Stick with the tried and tested against Ireland then move on?

I’m thinking this given the selection of the likes of Nyakane, Koch and Reinach plus the likes of Mapimpi, Mostert and Willie

These players are all 34

It’s fair enough to have these guys on board for the all important Irish series but post the series we need to move on from these players as the players waiting in the wings are far better especially when you consider the likes of Gelant, Green, Tambwe, Zas, Papier, Nohamba, Wilco Louw, Sadie, Jenkins, Ruben v Heerden and Ruan Vermaak

Jun 25, 2024, 22:13

Erasmus is still clinging to Coetzee’s team!

Jun 25, 2024, 22:18

Coetzee never had a team, Rassie turned them into one

Jun 25, 2024, 22:55

Took him a year….Jake did it in 3 months.

Jun 25, 2024, 23:17

Jake was shit after 2 years and was so shit leading up to the WC that he was almost sacked - instead they brought in Eddie to save him

Jake has a WC thanks to the easiest route ever and the help of Eddie and he had a RC

Comparing that with the genius Rassie with a RC, a Lions series and two WC’s, yes two

It’s not even close - one master, the other the pretender

Rassie is literally twice the Bok coach Jake ever was

Jun 25, 2024, 23:20

Rassie was shit in 2021 and 2022 and lucky at the WC. Pollard saved his bacon.

Jun 25, 2024, 23:24

Rassie has never been shit and the Bok team was awesome at the WC, the most difficult WC to win by a country mile

The polar opposite of the WC Jake won - the easiest in history

If Pollard scored all the tries, won all the scrums, rucks, mauls, line outs and made all the tackles in that WC then I’ll concede you are right - Pollard won us the WC but we know better don’t we?

Jake had to endure a shitload of political interference

Yep!

Jun 26, 2024, 09:37

Mozart is ttally deluded as ever.   So what happeed in tests the Springboks playd in the Tri-Nations in 2007 and what ahppened in teh case of the WC itself in 2007 that turned out to be a farce and the worst perform, ance in all four WC fiunals SA was invovled in.

Let me add - the 1995 word cup final was against the world no 1 team - the 2007 final was against the world number 7 team.   The 2019 WC was against a  team ranked higher than the Springboks,  The 2024 was also in that situation yet his BS spreading is as per normal legendary.

It never happened before 2019 that the team winning the World Cup also won the Tri-Nations or the Rugby Championship replacing it.   So him quoting the issue of Sringbok performances in his selected year is typical of Mozart BS spreading.   He obviously missed out on that issue since he left out th e 2007 Tri-nations that was pertinent in the case of his con argument.

I am going  to try and see John Smit in Jongensfontein who was captain during the Whole of White's Springbok tenure  and was  Director of Rugby in the year White coached he Sharks as to -

-   which of Ersmus or White were the better Springbok coach;

*   whether if there were a choice by him as to who he would prefer if the choice was between Erasmus and White.

The problem is Mozart suffer continuously from hissy fits about things he has defecive knowledge about.   Add to that he has also a moaning  idiot.

Jun 26, 2024, 11:25

Dave just to correct you on your Jake posting.

He was very nearly fired as the coach due to politics and not his coaching skills.

Got it.

Good.

Jun 26, 2024, 13:42

AJH

Sorry to differ - but the story came out later in the year - the reason  was the test results of the Boks was sickening in 2006 - for example losing  to the Aussies  46/0 - the worst ressult ever in Tri-Nations history at that time.  The ret entailed losses to France, irelannd and New Zealand.

Jun 26, 2024, 14:28

I see kwotalisi will retain the captaincy, but to he fair no real opensider in SA. Probably why Buthelezi is there.

My guess is he will use this squad this year and keep Reincach and Fat for another season or two and then start handing it over to the youngsters.

Rassie like to have level heads on the field and he made this statement after we lost to Australia. He brought on young players in the last 20 and they couldn't close out the game.

That is why we see the like of Deon Fourie etc coming on in the 2nd half.

We might see the Kwagga / Kolisi combo until the next world cup.

Anyway, it is lot like Kolisi ever play a full match or can. He is super unfit and just carries bulk

Jun 26, 2024, 16:07

Bullshit AJ stop speaking shit - check his record in the two years leading up to the WC - he was super shit - he nearly got sacked as he was shit, it had fuck all to do with politics

What political interference did he have - rumours that he had to pick Luke? Big fucking deal that’s one player hardly a teams worth

Jake was shit leading up to the WC, he came close being sacked but instead they brought Eddie in to save his useless arse - this is a fact well documented in Gavin Rich’s book

Jun 26, 2024, 16:10

Jake won the full TN competition and was within 5 minutes of winning a second. He was politically undermined in 2006 and nobody cares about this competition in abbreviated WC  years.

Eluckmiss has never won a full RC/TN in 3 tries.

Advantage Jake.

Jun 26, 2024, 16:17

5 minutes within two what a load of utter shit

Don’t insult any rugby follower telling them advantage to average Jake when all he has is a WC, the easiest WC ever and one RC

Rassie has double that record - a RC, a Lions series and two WC’s, yes two WC’s - the first he won by a record margin and the second being the most difficult route in the history of the comp

Average Jake’s record is not good enough to be mentioned in the same sentence as Rassie

Ask every Bok and rugby supporter who is better Jake or Rassie and I guarantee you 99% will say Rassie as it’s so fucking obvious

It’s actually insulting implying anything else

Advantage Jake is literally the rugby joke of the decade

Jun 26, 2024, 16:32

The Boks were leading the ABs in the away TN decider in 2005 until the last 5 minutes. There, now you are schooled.

Jun 26, 2024, 16:35

Not comparing Rassie to Jake.

But do you not recall the political issues that Jake was involved in with the Director of the SARU and the Minister of Sport during his time in charge of the team.

He was even called back to RSA during the RWC to face these guys in Cape Town about the issues that they had with him.

Yes Luke Watson, his father and the Government played a big part in how he was dealt with by the officials.

POLITICAL INTERFERENCE.

Sadly some folks only give credit to their choices and are reluctant to see or credit others.

Pity.

Jun 26, 2024, 17:18

Moz I don’t give a fuck if he was 5 min away a game is played over 80min it’s not won at minute 75

We could make excuses about virtually every game ever played like the Boks losing to Ireland when we missed all our kicks in the WC, or when we played them on the EOYT and lost when their try was not a try on two counts - we could go on and on.

Jake never won that RC end of - within 5min means they fucked up and lost the game in the last 5

Schooled my arse

Jun 26, 2024, 17:27

Well fact is AJ, Jake was good in his first two years as the Bok coach then he completely lost the plot with some piss poor selections

It was so bad he was on the verge of being sacked but given the proximity of the WC they decided to bring in Eddie to save his arse which is what Eddie did along with the fact that Jake’s side only had to face England in the entire competition - the only top tier side he had to face twice, that’s it. The other sides were Argentina who were average back then and Fiji - give me a break

It was the easiest WC ever

A good coach should have been able to deal with Luke - I bet you Rassie would have done a far better job of that situation had he been dealt that hand

Jake has always been a petulant twat - hardly a good man manger

Fuck me the du Plessis brothers were very open about what a prick Jake was

Jun 26, 2024, 17:41

Luke was useless….Jake dealt perfectly with him…,he didn’t pick him.

Jun 26, 2024, 17:44

Luke wasn’t useless !

Jun 26, 2024, 17:45

You just thought he was cute….the ABs treated him like a fluffy toy Becs.

Jun 26, 2024, 17:47

Dave

And so was the rest of the team.   he started off as a school coacjh and thougt that he could treat grown-ups in the same way,   That was why he was a total flop as coach.   In 2014  he divided the time nad for instance the captaain of the previous captain Keegan Daniel of disrupting the team through spreading division between players.   He himself had favorites such as Frans Steyn in the team and when the latter buggered up in games - which frequently happened - he would blame  other players for the bugger-ups.

In the end the 16 players whose contracts have expired refused t renew there contracts as long as White remains as Head coach.

The public was also infuriated by the Sharks team playing Jake Ball so what really happened that White was told to go.   He ended up coaching Montpellier on a two year contract - he did well in the first eyar at montpellier and flopped in the second year,  Montpellier refused to renew the contract with White because of poor selections and a rugby style that was called Jake Ball.     He then went off to Japan and in the end Rupert and Motsepe became  majority shareholders of the Bulls franchise and aoffered the coaching job to  White - here was something the new owners did - the appointed Brits to see tat the franchise does not self-destruct and also that flaws in coaching and poor teams election be eliminated.

Jun 26, 2024, 17:49

Ha ha ha, Mozart :)

No I thought he was a decent player.

Jun 26, 2024, 21:22

Luke was a class rugby player one of the best linking opensides I’ve seen

You don’t make Super rugby player of the year being useless

This is just prejudicial bullshit

Luke was a great rugby player and that’s a fact

A very misguided fool but a great player

Jake was just too useless to pick him

Jun 26, 2024, 23:11

A ‘great’ rugby player who lasted for 4 starts under PdV who had every incentive to play him…and then disappeared. Because he simply wasn’t test quality.

A small chap who was hard to distinguish from Craig Davidson the Sharks’  scrummie. His best move was to the Stormers where Schalk did all the hard work and Watson got all the press.

You talk about Mostert being physically inadequate and then you rave about Watson?

Jun 26, 2024, 23:19

Rassie has not really explained his motive with picking all these old players again…. All I know is that he is getting a lot of heat for some of his choices…..in particular at lock and props….also some of his Backline choices…..in an interview they question why he has decided to go with Kollisi, where he was quite adamant to pick a captain that was locally based…..how can you justify the dancing bear Nykane but not a Wilco Louw?? Tassels has always had a big head….not building enough player depth in his tenure so far, but yet again clinging to older players….the time is now to throw away caution and build that young team immediately….alll I see is that his ego has grown even bigger, as he does not really explain his motives…..one thing is certain, this squad with definitely satisfy the transformation vultures.

Jun 26, 2024, 23:38

Beating Ireland's our immediate goal ............. thereafter commence with rebuild strategies etc.

Jun 26, 2024, 23:42

If most of these oldies and Rassie could not beat the Irish since his tenure started, why now?

Jun 26, 2024, 23:51

Good question:)

Jun 27, 2024, 01:17

We should beat them handily at home….but some of our senior players looked a bit half baked against Wales

Jun 27, 2024, 10:04

There is no ways we will beat them handily at home they are a damn good side - it’s going to go down to the wire

Jun 27, 2024, 10:54

There is no ways we will beat them handily at home they are a damn good side

Agree.

Jun 27, 2024, 10:57

the time is now to throw away caution and build that young team immediately

Agree. It's 4 years to the next WC but in reality it's 3 years, the team has to be settled in its 3rd year allowing for a bit of tweaking in its 4th year.

Jun 27, 2024, 13:03

And the Bulls didn’t beat them a few weeks back with 11 or so of the Irish starting team?

Jun 27, 2024, 13:17

So the village hissy fit idiot is on the screaming  stage again.   There were key players not in the Leister team and Ireland teams do not only cosist of Leinste3r players.   mixing up test rugby and club rugby is wat reasonable thinking people  call BS.

Jun 27, 2024, 13:32

Let’s see:

Ringrose (bench)

Henshaw

Lowe

Gibson Park

Porter

Sheehan

Furlong

McCarthy

Mahoney

Van der Flier

Doris

So 10 starters in their final 6 Nations game, 1 on the bench….and Larmour, Ross Byrne, Ryan….all of whom have played for Ireland in the last year.

The only key player missing was Bundi.

Virtually an Irish team beaten by the Bulls. The Boks should take them at home.

Jun 27, 2024, 14:33

Dave have you got any info on the Irish touring  squad?

Jun 27, 2024, 14:33

Jun 27, 2024, 14:36

Gibson-Park and Conan are absentees. Both are injured.

Jun 27, 2024, 16:14

That makes it easier. So Ireland pick Leinster and add 4 better players….the Boks pick the Bools and add 14 better players.

Jun 27, 2024, 20:28

I read that Dweba is joining the Sale Sharks.

Jun 28, 2024, 03:52

I wa at he match es in the 2007 WC and was in respect of the Tonga match  really horrifid,  Up to 7 minutes before he end of he match Tonga was leading in the match  and it seemed as if th ey were ging  to win.   It wa not a S pring bok team playing - it was just a mess.

As to the final I must have watched all the finals many imes - t he 2007 as the worst of the four.   There was no real game plan and Jhn  Smit afterwards admis that there were no planning in the game plan to create tryscoring oppornities,

The only thing that worked in facvor of the Springboks was silly  penalties given away by the English team - some of the penalties were really poor.

he game plan aaprently as that the only plan White ahd depended on the Sprinbok forwards should force e Eng lish ones n the match - the backline was there for defense only.    It just did not happen.  Take for example  the only real effort came from the Springbok team ween th ey were attacking the Eng lish tryline for about 5 minutes - they never got anywhere near to scoring  and th e ball never went to the backline - it was kept by the forwards - and in th e end the eng lish forced a turnover of possession.   In that scrum - like in all scrums during h match - the Spring boks was neutralized and never went forward in scrums - it as stagnant or the Springboks went back slightly.

What was also troubling  was the fact that potection at beakdowns where the English made 3 turnovers of possession at breakdowns as against zero in favour of the Springboks.

in comapring th finals and performances in the finals I rated he four finals based on the game plan and implemetation as follows:-

1    The 2019\final

2    The 1995 final

3    The 2023 final

4     The 2007 final

      .

Jun 28, 2024, 04:05

The team that won us another RWC must be chosen. As the season progresses changes can be made but you don't arbitrarily drop 'em cupwinners.

Jun 28, 2024, 04:38

2007 Boks point difference plus 214

2023 Boks point difference plus 121

Case closed.

Jun 28, 2024, 08:42

If you bothered to find out what Rassie's policy is you would simply watch videos showing what he has plainly said - he will gradually bring in new blood.

This is incremental change and the right policy.

While Jake is a reasonably good coach he is a step or two down from Rassie. That much is obvious unless you are a biased bigot like poor mozzietard who is still smarting from Rassie winning two consequetive RWCs.

Will the buffoon survive Rassie winning a third RWC? What excuse will he come up with should this happen. The guy has too fragile of an ego to admit he got it wrong. Heck even Rooitwit had the grace to do that.

As a Bok " supporter" mozzietard is a disgrace. He never stops trying to diminish the Bok win. I doubt whether his whining will stop. He is obsessed and can't let it go

It's called Rassie Derangement Syndrome  (RDS) and poor Mozzie has it real bad.

Mozzietard should just fit a cotk. His whining regarding all this is a total bore.

Jun 28, 2024, 10:14

The only thing that matters is trophies in the cabinet and as far as that goes Rassie is undisputably numero uno.

Winners are grinners.

Jun 28, 2024, 11:30

Well, on this one I have to agree with Beeno, Rassie is using this time to blood new players in gradually. He knows he has an aging core team and will need to find new players, but he has time. He is keeping his head and want to continue a winning culture. This team can beat Ireland 2-0

Jun 28, 2024, 16:07

Groupies will be groupies…..one decent WC, one lucky WC….miserable years in between.
