Plumster somehow imagines Arendse a useful wing is the better of Kolbe.

This almost equals the Rooitwit blunder that Luke Watson was better than Schalk Burger or the  Mozzietard blunder in trashing Du Toit!

All very comical to be sure.  Plumpsters poor judgement regarding Allende reaches a new high regarding Kolbe.

What part of reality don't I have grip on, Beeno?

"What part of reality don't I have grip on, Beeno?"

Not entirely sure what would constitute a valid response to such a stupid and clumsily phrased question but I'll give it a bash . . .

Ummm . . . the main part. The primary part. The important part.

I hope one of those conveys the prevailing sentiment.

PS I'd pick Kurt-Lee and Cheslin as my two Bok wingers in a heartbeat. No contest. But. . .  if I had to choose between just one of them (like if Duhan had to renounce his Scottish citizenship and be allowed to play for the Boks), it would be Cheslin every time.

Beeno

There is no grip on anything.iro Mozart from day one - when Erasus was appointed - went on a lying spree about Erasmus record as a coach  and even went so far as to stte on site that SARU made a mistake in appoining him and keeping  Coetzee was preferable to his appointment.

What is clear that the attacks on Ersmus by him was his crazy idea that White is a better coach Erasmus and his cvirtually daily attacks on Erasmus is the issue in this case.   What Mozart now criticze for about back line play is what he atntacked and deliriously claimed in 2014 and 2015 was what represent "Traditional   Springbok Rugby".

What the old fool do not udnerstand is that backline players  under Erasmus consistently score more tries than they did under White, De Villiers, Meyer and Coetzee,   Most tries by backline players involve forwards in the attacks as well.   I think Erasmus rrealize that is what Browne could improve on.

Kolbe is a match-winner, and Ardense is a match-killer.

If it was a World Cup final in the closing seconds I would choose Kolbe to score the match-winning try.
When the Boks have the upper hand, I would choose Adrense to pile on the points.

Kolbe can make something out of nothing with no space, but Ardense is arguably more dangerous in space.
Fortunately, they can both play on either wing and even cover fullback.

Exactly right Sharkbok.

As much as I rate both of them, neither one would make my current World XV.

Will Jordan is a phenomenon and he'd be my #14 if I was picking a current team to play for my life. Duhan would be my #11 with Damien Penaud on my bench, Then Cheslin and then Kurt-Lee.

Apr 13, 2024, 19:23

Yeah, Jordan is on another level. 31 tries in 31 games...that's crazy.

To be fair to our guys, he gets more opportunities because the ABs naturally play more expansively and get better ball to their wingers.

I prefer Arendse to Kolbe because he seems to be more able to adapt and fit into what is happening around him. He makes the right choice seemingly without fail. Kolbe is more of a solo magic man.

The worst player miss? Undoubtedly HasBeen’s trashing of the great Victor Matfield.

Apr 14, 2024, 04:09

M/ozart

The worst /player miss was Matfield returning  to play for the Springboks after his 2011 retirement from Rugby.    That wa a fact c riticized on site - not that he was a great player iuntil 2011,   F act is his contribution in 2014 and 2015 was totally disastrous - but you failed to recognize that.   .

From the Team of the Tournament in the Rugby Championship 2014:

5 Victor Matfield (South Africa) – The old master silenced those doubts over whether he could still cut it at 37 with a string of dictatorial displays at the lineout through this year’s tournament. Matfield still oozes class and while his work around the field might not have always been glittering (the chip-and-chase try remains a gem), his influence is priceless. Great competition for this spot from Sam Whitelock, while Argentina lock Mariano Galarzacaught the eye.

Once again you have been caught lying through your teeth….a total disaster you say, but selected to the team of the RC. Here’s the All Blacks Open Forum where Matfield was given due respect:

So Matfield did not bu gg er up a line-out aimed at a pushover try in 2014 in the away test against the A ll Black where h e did not catch th e abll and just managed to knock the ball back to th e scrmmie and the opportunity was gone.   He was  outjumped in the famous 2014 local test won by the S pring boks by 2 points - the line-out botch on own through was disastrouand the AB's gained conrol through scorig a try.   The same happened in 2015 when Matfield helped he A B's t win in th e smi-final against the AB's.   He should never have been in teh WC squad and buggered up rioyally in the famous Japan disaster and in the enxt match left the field ag ainst Samoa early when the injury was probably fake - h e was not reated for the injury during the game - he jsyt walked off and then did nto play at all and then only came on after 60 minutes from the ebnch adn was a disaster as xpected.  He lost a line-out jump when the AB's caused a turnve rin a line-out and ten neck-wrestled witha  player after a penalty was awarded t the Springboks - causing a turnover of the penalty - which could have been easily converted and then put th Spring boks under pressure as a result.

Matfield was never a real contributor to tight 5 play and was normmally a passenger when it ces to tight 5 play - more so after 2011.    Physically  to weak to play a role in that component  of h the game and was in many ways similar to Mostert.

Useless supreme is the only desciption of Matfield in the years after 2011 and te AB'slove that - so the AB supporters will promote him to ensusre he si in the 2015 squad.    Even bakkies said of Matfield just standing around in the backline all the time - he was jsut doing  that 90% of the time.

BS  galore from  Mozart idiocy.           .

Difficult to choose between Kolbe and Arendse but if pushed I’d take Kolbe

This is the best post I have yet seen regarding the distinct differences between these two players....which I fully agree with ..... spot on Shark

WC final stats against NZ

Attacking

Kolbe 7 runs/64 metres/1 clean break/4 defenders beaten

Arendse 2 runs/16 metres/0 clean breaks/0 defenders beaten

Defense

Kolbe  8 tackles/0 missed/1 turnover conceded

Arendse 6 tackles/ 4missed/ 2 turnovers conceded

…….

Key World Cup moments….Kolbe charging down the Ramos kick after the Mauvaka try. In the same game Arendse taking the Libbok kick for a try.

It’s hard to say who the better player is. Kolbe had the better World Cup final and has done it all. Right now I would say Arendse is more dangerous, although despite some brilliant open field tackling by Arendse, I would say Kolbe is more solid defensively….who can forget that magnificent wrap tackle on Lawes by Kolbe in the 2019 WC final.

Too close to call and we don’t need to make the call given we select them both

Apr 15, 2024, 14:20

Both are excellent players and deserve all the credit they receive.

Dazzling video posted by Beeno of Kolbe at his best.

Thankfully he is a Springbok.

As I've previously said I can't separate them it's six of one and half a dozen of the other but one thing that amazed me about Kolbe is how he creates space after he runs into traffic.

Apr 17, 2024, 06:00

Kolbe he always had a good natural step.

Arendse is the best winger I have seen play for SA. His position and decision making are unmatched in my book.

And for me, I pick that over a step.

As I said in the other very long thread. Kolbe has 3 sidestep tries in 31 appearances for the Boks. That's 1 in 10 games.

Great positional play, support, decision making and timing result in more tries and that's what I would choose.
