Johan Ackermann, the head coach of the Vodacom Bulls, has issued a stern warning to his squad not to overlook their Italian rivals in the upcoming URC clashes with Zebre and Benetton. These matches are pivotal as the Bulls seek to secure their playoff berth, following a morale-boosting pair of victories on Welsh turf.

Ackermann is keen to keep his team focused on the immediate challenges rather than getting lost in playoff speculations.

"We haven’t sat down and tried to work out where we could finish if we get eight or more log points from the next two matches. It’s never really a good idea to start doing those calculations,"

he stated, emphasizing the importance of staying present and grounded.

The Bulls, who have rebounded from earlier season setbacks, now face a crucial test against two teams that have shown they can spring surprises. Benetton, in particular, comes off a stunning victory over the reigning champions, Leinster, underscoring their threat.

"You must not underestimate Zebre, and Benetton showed this past weekend that they are one of the top teams in the competition,"

Ackermann remarked, acknowledging the strength of the Italian sides.

Despite their improved standings, the path to the playoffs is fraught with potential twists. "There’s still a lot that can happen, and with the way the Stormers and the Lions are playing at the moment, they can definitely get results on tour," the Bulls coach added, hinting at the unpredictability of the league's closing stages.

The squad will now enjoy a brief respite to recuperate from a grueling travel schedule before the final push. "We’re going to give the players a proper break this week after a long tour and a gruelling travel schedule," said Ackermann. He praised his team's resilience, particularly after a tough win against the Scarlets, "Although Saturday’s win over the Scarlets wasn’t pretty, we managed to grind it out."

The Bulls now turn their focus to finishing strong in the regular season, fully aware that both skill and strategy will be required to navigate past the formidable Italian challenge and secure a favorable playoff position.
