In a fiery display of solidarity, All Blacks stalwarts have come out swinging in defense of Ardie Savea amid the fallout from Scott Robertson's dismissal as head coach. The recent upheaval saw Robertson axed following an underwhelming tenure, with whispers of a player-led review contributing to his ouster. Savea, unfortunately, found himself at the center of controversy, with rumors suggesting his dissatisfaction played a pivotal role in the coaching shake-up.

Despite the storm, NZ Rugby chair David Kirk clarified that Savea's influence on Robertson’s departure was overstated, yet the backlash has persisted. All Blacks lock Patrick Tuipulotu expressed his disappointment at the situation.

"A lot of people expressed their views in the review; everyone in the team does,"

he remarked, highlighting the unfair focus on Savea as a scapegoat due to his high profile.

Tuipulotu, who spoke during the Super Rugby Pacific launch, believes the criticism won’t faze Savea.

"It won’t bother him, he’s the type of guy to just carry on,"

he said, confident in his teammate's resilience. Joining him in support was fellow All Black Codie Taylor, who dismissed the notion of Savea 'blackmailing' NZ Rugby as overly simplistic and unjust. Taylor stressed the unknown nature of Savea's actual comments in the review, underscoring his commitment to the team’s welfare and his respect for the former coach.

The theme of unwarranted criticism was echoed by back-rower Wallace Sititi, who voiced his unwavering support for Savea. Describing the backlash as part of the rough and tumble of professional sports, Sititi emphasized,

"Ardie’s my guy, he’s my brother and I’m going to look after him no matter what."

His comments reflect a team deeply connected and protective of its members amid external pressures.

This episode not only sheds light on the internal dynamics of high-stakes rugby but also the personal resilience of players like Savea who find themselves thrust into the spotlight, not for their on-field exploits but for the controversies off it.
