"I was in some ways a little bit underwhelmed in terms of the performance. Really stoked that we’ve put the Bledisloe Cup away, but I think I look at this game and I go, I’m not sure that we’ve moved a long way forward in terms of our performance," he expressed, clearly frustrated by the team's inconsistency.
"You know, once again, we had a big lead and gave it away, then had to work really, really hard. Was it 28-24 with only minutes to go in a game."
The real eye-opener for Wilson came when he watched the Springboks dismantle Argentina 67-30 in Durban, a performance that seemed to solidify his doubts about New Zealand's championship chances. "Look. I was feeling pretty good and then I watched South Africa play Argentina, and then I went, Ah, yeah, right. It’s gonna be really hard to win the Rugby Championship now," he admitted.
The All Blacks are off to Perth this week for a rematch with the Wallabies, but even a victory there might not do the trick if the Boks handle their business against Argentina at Twickenham.
