Just when you thought the All Blacks might be limping into the Rugby Championship, the Barrett brothers bolt back onto the scene, fit and fired up for the upcoming slugfest with the Springboks. Yes, folks, Scott and Beauden Barrett are back in black and ready to rumble, much to the delight of fans and the probable dismay of their rivals.

New Zealand’s head honcho of rugby, Scott Robertson, dropped the good news bombshell himself, confirming that the dynamic duo would be strapping on their boots for the opening rounds of the championship. This includes the high-stakes back-to-back battles against South Africa. Imagine the scenes when these two brothers storm the fields of Wellington and Auckland, ready to wreak havoc and chase glory.

"Beauden’s going well. That was one of the reasons we pulled him out this week, to give him every chance to be available for that [Argentina] game. Scott’s tracking really well. That rest has been great for him and in the last week he’s been training, so he’ll be available."

The timing couldn’t be more perfect. With Beauden having sat out the third Test against France nursing a hand fracture, and Scott shaking off a calf niggle, their return is like a well-scripted comeback in a sports movie. The All Blacks kick off their campaign on foreign soil against Argentina on August 17th, before they host the Springboks on September 7th in Wellington and again on the 13th in Auckland. Let the games begin!

And there’s more good news where that came from. Wallace Sititi, the team’s dynamic loose forward, is also on the mend from minor ankle surgery and expected to rejoin the squad in time for the series. This trio’s return could not be timelier as the All Blacks look to convert their recent 3-0 sweep against France into momentum for the Rugby Championship battles ahead.

Robertson couldn’t hide his relief and pride in the resilience his team showed during the French tests, especially pulling off a win in the final match with a rotated squad. This depth and ability to perform under pressure will be crucial as they face a formidable South African team next month. With their ranks replenished and spirits high, the All Blacks are once again looking like the team to beat.

The stage is set, the players are ready, and the Rugby Championship drama is about to unfold. Will the Barrett brothers’ return be the boost that New Zealand needs to dominate the old foe? Time will tell, but one thing is for sure: it’s going to be an electrifying set of games!
