In a nail-biting showdown in New York, the Blitzboks clinched the SVNS Series title after a close 10-7 victory over Fiji. This win not only handed them the gold medal at the New York tournament but also secured their dominant position as the overall series champions. The team's journey to the top was highlighted by victories in Cape Town, Perth, and Vancouver, making this season a remarkable run of success for coach Philip Snyman’s squad. South Africa has consistently impressed, stepping onto the podium at every one of the six tournaments this season.

Blitzboks captain Impi Visser, marking his 50th tournament appearance, played a pivotal role right from the start. His early steal and strategic play set up Gino Cupido for the opening try, setting the stage for what was to come. Tristan Leyds widened the gap with a second try, though Fiji’s Terio Veilawa responded to tighten the game, turning the final moments into a cliffhanger. However, the Blitzboks’ defense was impenetrable when it mattered most, ensuring they walked away with the championship title.

"What a performance. We stuck to our guns because we knew Fiji were going to be physical, but thankfully we came out on top,”

noted Selvyn Davids, who was named Man of the Final.

"It was a massive defensive effort and testament to all our hard work. We couldn’t have scripted it any better and we’re just thankful we came up with the win,”

Visser added, reflecting on the team's robust defensive performance after the victory.

The triumph in New York marks South Africa's seventh final win on U.S. soil, a testament to their prowess and consistency in the series. As the Blitzboks celebrate this momentous victory, they not only reflect on a season well-executed but also set the bar high for the tournaments to follow.
