It was a heartbreaker in Singapore as the Blitzboks just missed out on the bronze, losing a nail-biter to the All Blacks Sevens 14-12 in the third-place playoff. The New Zealand squad clinched the win in a match that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.

The game kicked off with New Zealand drawing first blood. Kele Lasaqa sliced through the Blitzboks' midfield like a hot knife through butter, putting the All Blacks ahead. Not to be outdone, the South African side hit back with Tristan Leyds, who bulldozed his way over the line with a defender clinging on in a futile attempt to stop him.

As the teams headed into the break, New Zealand held a slender 7-5 lead. Coming out of halftime, Shilton van Wyk quickly put the Blitzboks in front, diving over in the corner after a slick series of passes left the New Zealand defence scrambling. Leyds then curved a beautiful conversion from the sideline to push South Africa ahead 12-7.

"We really pulled together as a team, but sometimes the ball just doesn't bounce your way,"

Leyds remarked after the match.

The lead, however, was short-lived. Michael Manson of New Zealand responded with a dazzling solo effort, evading tackles and sprinting to the try-line to level the scores. Riley Williams then stepped up and nailed the conversion, inching New Zealand ahead once more.

In the dying moments, the Blitzboks launched a desperate attack that continued even after the final hooter had sounded, pushing for a last-gasp win. Despite their fierce efforts and some close calls that had the crowd holding their breath, the Blitzboks couldn't land that crucial final punch.

"It was a tough one to swallow. We gave it everything but just couldn't get over the line in those final moments,"

a Blitzbok player shared post-game, the disappointment clear in his voice.

While it wasn't the finish they hoped for, the Blitzboks' performance in Singapore was a testament to their resilience and skill, promising more thrilling rugby action in the tournaments to come. The showdown between these rugby titans was a rollercoaster of emotions, showcasing the very best of what the sport has to offer.
