Come on Bokke!

Oct 13, 2023, 07:32

I’m not impressed

Oct 13, 2023, 07:40

Meh.

Oct 13, 2023, 07:40

Delande and Kriel, what a joke. No Moodie or Esterhuizen. AM is not even on the bench....

I am happy with Vermulen starting for the Boks to compete at the breakdown.
Also Manie starting, which could mean that Delande is carted off to make way for Pollard at inside center

Oct 13, 2023, 07:44

Rassie has coveted all the basis.

The points of contention are there of course.

Pleased to see Koch selected.

Sorry Moodie was not picked ahead of Atendse.

Center pairing is debatable.

Oct 13, 2023, 07:44

If France can't beat that, well, they know who to blame.

Oct 13, 2023, 07:47

Rooi I didn't see your post

Oct 13, 2023, 07:53

Glad I didn't get my hopes up, if by some miracle the Boks win then all credit goes to Erasmus but if they lose then he's a Goose.

Oct 13, 2023, 08:01

Huge picking Libbok over Pollard to start. If the Boks get behind then can Pollard light the backline up in the 2nd half? I seriously doubt it and the safest option would be to start him.

Oct 13, 2023, 08:07

Yep. But when the dead-end centre pairing live up to their reputation then I'm afraid to say there's no replacements.

Oct 13, 2023, 08:22

Vermeulen is there because Kolisi can't captain. Neither will he last the full game. We don't have genuine fetcher or players that can steal the ball on the ground. Vermeulen is the only player in the pack that can do that. Kittshoff has the skill to do that too.

Don't see how this team will dominate the French up front.

My fear is that the ball will be thrown around a lot.

What is the point of having outside backs with pace and stepping ability when Dud and Kriel will kill any momentum. I can see Dud getting the ball on his heels, rock back, and then just barrel ahead. Or, he just kicks the ball away.

Kriel has spent too much time in the gym. He is so rigid, can't glide pass players and even more limited when it come to creating space for his wingers. Will just run into touch or give poor passes.

Oct 13, 2023, 08:57

Mostert in the supposed domination by the tight 5 is a joke in bad taste.   He is useless as a tight 5 player and even worse as a loosie.   I also do not trust Libbok and his goal-kicking when under pressure and would have preferred another 13 as well.    Glad the clueless Esterhuizzen is not in the amtchday squad - one eneds a brain and not only muscle at 12.

Am disappointed by selection of Vermeulen as well.  He was great in 2019 and his recent appearances in tests was passenger-like.

Hope the Springboks win - but is not overly impressed  by that team selection.   However, Erasmus and Nienaber know more about rugby than our local fundi's do.

Oct 13, 2023, 08:57

That's the team, like it or not. You can either bitch and grumble (and in the cases of Moffie and Doos hope that we lose so you can say you were right) or else get behind the team and support them.

Go Bokke!

Oct 13, 2023, 09:18

The 5:3 split to accommodate a pole kicker on the bench has meant that Wiese drops out.
Vermuelen has been chosen for his breakdown skills.

Kwagga has been chosen to replace Kolisi (around minute 45)

Oct 13, 2023, 11:41

I would rather have Kwagga or Van Staden on the pitch than kolisi. He has proven nothing since he came back other than just being a cheerleader and soaking up the attention. Especially now that he has signed a big time contract in France

Oct 13, 2023, 11:46

You guys are so wrong about Kolle...crucial cog in the clockwork...

Oct 13, 2023, 11:49

Kolisi will do just fine.

Oct 13, 2023, 12:11

Kriel ahead of Am is not that big a call. Kriel has not been worse than Am has been since last year.

Libbok hasn't had one good test. He does nothing well.

Duane hasn't been a force at the breakdown the whole season. He has some high balls fielded and the odd carry. That's it.

The entire loose trio is a write off. Not having Wiese on the bench is a colossal mistake, though he should be starting.

Not a great mix. What has Damian done this year? Horrible. Simply horrible. If France can't beat this rabble then they are clueless. Not only are the selections bad, the game plan is even worse.

Oct 13, 2023, 13:28

Hahahaha…..perhaps this is an attempt to induce complacency. Suddenly in the warm up Willemse, Libbok, Reinach, and Kolisi have small muscle strains. On to start come Willie, Pollard, Faf and Kwagga. The whole French game plan is blown up and Harrassmiss is invited to join Mensa.

Oct 13, 2023, 14:34

Hope Thor has got 80 min in him… Kwagga will replace Kollisi and I think RG will replace Duane, with Franco moving to 8 with his 80 minute tank.

Oct 13, 2023, 14:53

The performance of Duane Vermuelen will be important. We need his skills at the breakdown.
Boks needs to get off to a good start and make sure to keep the number of penalties conceded down.

Oct 13, 2023, 15:06

Kolisi is good, but sometimes goes missing in the tight games.
Kolisi is best in a fast open expansive game where he plays a bit more like a number 8 that links with the backs.

So far this world cup, he has not set the world alight. Not sure if he has recovered from his injury.

Oct 13, 2023, 15:14

I am a fan of Vincent Koch, despite initially having reservations about his play.
He now gets involved outside of the scrum more often.
He seems like a very professional type of player- especially for a prop.

Nykana is good, but I think he is a much better loosehead.
Nykana pops up less outside the scrum than he used to, and recently he has been falling to the ground instead of running into the opposition defence wall.

Reinach is like Hougaard on attack, but a more all-round scrumhalf that can play in all conditions and game plans. I like that he kicks less than Faff.

Grant Williams looked phenomenal off the bench, but then he started throwing no-look wild passes, some of which ended in the stands. It is a pity, as he really looked to get the attack going whether it be quick passes, or taking the gap around rucks.

Hendrikse is also solid, but most of our scrumhalfs have had little game time because there are so many in the squad - and because Faff was covering the backup kicking duties -so it was hard to sub him.

Oct 13, 2023, 16:19

Absolute bullshit - Kolisi is a class act - better than Kwagga and far far better than v Staaden

Oct 13, 2023, 16:20

Let’s hope RG replaces useless Mostert before halftime

Oct 14, 2023, 00:21

A pound to your penny mighty Mostert's on the field for 80 min:D
