Penalty Boks. Going for the lineout 5.
Penalty Boks. Going for the lineout 5.
Reinach quick tap and try. 7-3.
Penalty Tonga for Boks not rolling away. Lineout 5.
Tonga full of lineout tricks. They're on the line right by the post. Scrum 5.
Did I see that right
that the Samoan pack has about 70kgs on the Boks?
Tonga camped on the Bok line, Bok defense holds. Willie made a mess of catching the cross
Didn't see the pack weights.
Tonga lineout working superbly, they just can't do much with it at the moment.
49 tackles to 9 the Boks have had to make. All Tonga so far.
Tonga gets wide of Willie on the outside, 10m out. Boks win a penalty on the ground.
Come on Tonga do us a huge favour.
Boks defence looking very good so far
Try Moodie. Lucky bounce off a bad Bok pass.
Defence looking good, everything else not so much.
Lots of kicking.
Bok veterans looking a little frustrated.
Penalty Boks, lineout 5.
Tonga are playing well. Boks have looked solid without the ball.
Bok maul stopped, terrible Tongan clearance, again lineout 5.
Head clash. Hopefully no card, Mapimpi was running bent over and the Tongan was on his knees.
Jessica Kriel is on...
Sanity prevails, thank you officials.
Penalty Boks as Esterhuizen loses the ball in contact
Pollard has his kicking boots on
Maul try at last. Kinda zzz but I guess we'll take it.
Tonga very direct but slow in challenging the line. The Bok defence really hasn't been tested. Tonga don't have a clear plan for attacking us. They cannot take the opportunities we do give them.
Lineout 5 Tonga.
Yeah very blunt force on attack, Tonga. Now they get it over from close though. Their lineout has been quite good for them
Poor conversion attempt, 21-8.
Strong break Esterhuizen.
Well all going well.
Scrum looking dominant now dispute Tonga being 70 kg heavier.
Could be a good second half.
Kriel throws intercept as the Boks look set to score. Halftime. Tonga's been good, Boks resilient but not particularly innovative.
Right on the half...Kriel, yet again bloody Jessie Kriel...the amazing Jessica from the block...is the reason the Boks get no reward for good time spent in Tonga's half.
Seriously, this guy, much like DDA, is a complete bloody toolbox.
Esterhuizen having his way with Tonga in the fashion DDA can only dream of.
Why put Jessie at 13?
Stick him out on the wing and just never give him the ball.
Put Moodie where he belongs, beside AE.
Yep.
Does anyone here trust Jessie to make a good decision in a tight game when we simply have to win?
Moodie is just beyond his teenage years and he's already about 10 light years ahead of Jessica in terms of rugby brain.
AE should hit their line more in the 2nd half. They apparently can't contain him.
Tongans seem to be like those bullies that like to dish it out but can't take it when big boys run back at them.
Yeah just attack the space between the big men, we tend to run straight at them too much.
Boks sure love their skip passes that skips out nothing except any advantage and space we might have had.
At the end there we didn't really know what to do with the ball. Esterhuizen forced into touch.
Bash bash knock. Good lineout steal from Orie.
Bongi with the mic in his ear. Rassie is probably shouting "yellow light, yellow light" into it.
Reinach offside, Boks come away with nothing there.
Jessie burrows over. See Plum, all is well again. Heroic stuff.
Just looking at that passage, if the Boks develop an offload game we're going to score much easier
Libbok on. Pollard has probably cemented his starting spot
Eben helps up the Tongan actor who ran into him. What the hell are they checking?
Petty bullshit, get on with the game.
Another retarded referee.
Pierce was actually trying to send Eben off for that but Mapimpi has sustained a concussion for an event which apparently only a penalty.
My word
Great try Tonga.
Yes, Jessica scored a try.
He's now cemented his place at 13 for at least another 4 years.
Libbok and Willie seemed a bit confused about their defensive roles out wide there.
Tongans manhandling Duane.
Duane grabbed by the head in that manhandling scene. No upstairs.
Bet Ireland wants the Tongan lineout.
Spilled Tonga b
Manie nails the conversion from the touchline. Well done young man.
Mostert on. Now shit's gonna go down.
Kwagga
Try Van Staden. Best Bok try of the game.
Kwagga is just so damn good.
He had to be one of the best in the world. Always makes things happen. His turn over, his break, and a try for the Boks 90m up the pitch.
Manie can't miss today.
He's lekker scared now that Pollard is back.
Manie on point again. 42-13.
Yeah Kwagga makes Kolisi look like the passenger he is.
Forward pass Willie. Pity.
What the hell is the penalty for? Esterhuizen fell, got up right away, wasn't held.
FFS Williams, trying to be cute, Tongan try down
Kwagga scores,
49-18. Good win.
Boks played well as did Tonga. It was very physical.
No one really had a bad game except Vermeulen, who seemed off the pace.
The throw-ins of Van Staden were not great, but Deon Fourie threw well.
The rolling maul was not that great, but the Tongans also appeared to defend it well.
Pollard's kicking was 100%, as was Mannie's.
Canan Moodie had a very good game, and Esterhuizen while a bit predictable proved he is the strongest centre in world rugby.
The way he stands tall in the tackle to do offloads is a bit like Israel Folau.
Eztebeth was a physical workhorse, surprised he played the whole game.
Esterhuizen leading the meters run for the Boks at 54, and it wasn't easy ones
Hmm, we conceded the most tries in this game. Tonga finally showed up the type of players they have, but just shows you how strong Ox is when weighing in at 115 Kg Vs a 145kg monster. I thought we would be weaker with Fourie at 2 but the boys did well.
Orie did well in the Line out.
Agree on Vermeulen.
Thought our backline was a bit disjointed and Willie had another mix bag performance.
Reincach was eratic at the breakdown
Hendrikse control the base way better.
Moodie looked really good and still chewed up meters out wide. He should be on the wing if not 13. Kriel killed all momentum yet again. He seems to rigid and doesnt have movement to get around players.
Esterhuizen start getting better in the 2nd half.
Thought Pollard did really well and probably will start in the quarters.
Willie should be dropped from the boks.
Forward passes, poor defence etc. Does more harm than good in my book.
Lol anyone that watched that and still rates DDA above AE must be related to Damien.
Jessie had some moments...but made some clangers again. That intercept he chucked and the missed tackle that gifted Tonga about 60m. He did track back to defend though...but still he got totally done and almost handed them a runaway try.
Williams does need to calm down. That silly pass he tried which resulted in the Tongan try is a sign that he still needs to mature a touch.
Why on earth was Eben on for 80??? We're all on the same page as to the fact that he's probably our most important player, right?
As usual, there are some that are just a cut above the rest...Kwagga being one that never fails to amaze with his contributions. Lol He's only about fifteen times better than Siya.
I agree. Willie has had his run. A good player and great servant for the Boks but after this WC it's time for the new guy to take over full time.
Willemse is the new kid and a straight-up superstar. The kind Willie threatened to become but never really did.
Esterhuizen had a good game but it was mostly strength direct stuff
He did nothing to dislodge DA from the starting spot
Stupid call moving Moodie to wing they should have left him at 13 to give him game time there and played Kriel on the wing
We know what Kriel has to offer at 13 so what was the point?
Our Qfinal's on Sun 15 ............ heaps of recovery tine , I was more concerned about EE getting a card over some weird protocols
10,117 posts
Early penalty for offside against the Boks, Tonga for poles. 3-0.
