We need a real performance. We haven't fronted up against any real effort. This team owes us a complete performance.
We need a real performance. We haven't fronted up against any real effort. This team owes us a complete performance.
I stand my prediction for this one. Scotland will not look like winning.
Pod screen chip.
Hmmm, Mostert looking good.
Another pod screen chip. Hmmm... same shape. Opportunity there.
Kriel looks sharp.
Another kick. H
igh ball.
What was Kits doing?
Great work Wiese. Libbok high ball. Too much kicking here.
Ireland looking good. Jeez these jerseys are a joke. way to strip the tradition and identity out of a team.
Scrum penalty to SA.
Replay, Malherbe flops. Bad call ref. Player 16 does his work early.
Bit of justice there.
Libbok misses.
Very bad calls here. Player 16 saving the Boks here.
Eben alone into three Scots, counter rucked, Boks lucky to get a loose ball back there.
3-0 now
A slow start by the Boks.
I see Delande is having a good game
at the bottom of each ruck.
Scots finding a hole or two in the rush defense but then silly kicks it away.
Kriel botches good attacking movement by not being able to draw and pass
Messy.
Around 14:00 Libbok and Steph exposed badly on defence.
Poor hands by Damian. We're not doing much with the ball at all. Commentators are clearly smoking Erasputin's knickers.
DA knocks a poor pass.
Dud knocks it on….difficult pass, but a great attacking position.
Scotties are making mistakes but still competitive
Can't be hard on Dud, but then Wiese held on to his
Som
e mistakes and some bad calls.
Haggis and handbags.
Dud 1 dumped. Again.
Dud the tractor is going to cost us this game
That's why Player 16 is there Korn.
Boks go wide, DA takes the contact and carries three players into touch. Ball dead, move dead.
And now the officials need to check the scuffle instead of just getting on with the damn game. No one's bleeding ffs.
And the lecture from mighty ref
Steph clumsy as ever in the loose, Scots win possession back.
26 minutes, 6-0 Boks.
Finn Russell tackling with his ribs
Scottish right wing straight past Dud Toit.
Scots 14 looks nippy.
What the hell are they wasting time reviewing now?
More talky talk from the ref, Bok penalty for something or other silly shit.
Hope the Eben injury isn’t bad.
Mosterd stripped of the ball
Mostert spills it in contact, bit of basketball, kickety kick, net gain 50m Scots. Now they throw away a try as 14 hangs on too long out wide.
Kriel promptly kicks away Bok turnover possession.
Hell if S14 passed to 11 there the Scots were in.
Now the Boks do their best to botch every attacking chance.
Darcy Graham blows one and then Libbok grubbers with a try scoring overlap.
All the territory all the possession…not one decent back movement
The Malherbe belly flop!
Toipoluto through Libbok.
Come on
flab Malherbe
Scots have our scrum under pressure. We have bad scrum, we're gonna have bad game.
Schoeman destroys Malherbe and Scotland gets 3.
Boks can't use the ball. No free space, no attack. Poor scrum, which has been poor the past three years (ranked low in the last two RCs). We need the space to open up for our speed. Libbok hasn't been good. Kicks poor. Defence not great. Scotland should be ahead. They'll be kicking themselves, and I think that was their only chance.
6-3 halftime. Scots very much in this, and they also manufactured the only real scoring chance which they'll be kicking themselves about not executing. Nothing burger from the Boks so far.
Malherbe, the best 3 in the game, and best ever Bok 3
Delande has neutered the backline. He wants to be a forward to smash into rucks or be trapped at the bottom of the ruck.
Dud, Flab, Tostert,Kriel and PS de Twat have been absolutely shite. Willemse just kicking poorly and not able to ignite the backline or counter attack.
We need to sort out scrum out but not sure Trev or Ox will ad much value
Braindead aimless kicking is the order of the day.
Why is Esterhuizen not on the bench? Everyone (except RassNaber) can see that he offers so much more on attack than Delande, and his unpredictability is hard to defend against.
Faff's kicks are too deep. No chase on the kicks
The backline against the All Blacks would have scored at least 2 tries.
Yet here we are with Deadlande
Scots pretty poor to start but Boks not really able to take advantage.
Scots came back well. Blew a sitter of a try, even got some scrum dominance.
Expect the Boks to pull away in the 2nd half
What is the point of DDA as a rugby player?
The guy adds nothing. Zero! NADA!!!
He's supposed to be taking the ball up. That's meant to be his main asset...but he bloody jogs into contact.
Manie also becoming a tackle missing machine now.
A tad nervous for the second half.
Though if the Boks can maintain pressure they should start scoring more points as Scotland has.
Willie and Willemse should both be on the field, even if Willemse is on the wing. The fact that AE should be there too is obvious.
Malherbe was lucky not to be penalised more.
This should be Willemse's chance to move to 12, otherwise,
it is going to be a long game.
Boks looking sluggish. Had better up the ante.
This game is so boring, even Rassie brought his bed time night light with him to keep away his nightmares
Rassie flashing a yellow light. All will
Libbok short and wide on the penalty.
South Africa online decent backline play came from putting Flab in the hole
RG showing his smarts.
This guy in an AB jersey would be a nightmare.
Snyman with the first bit of attacking flair
almost busts it open.
DuToit good stuff.
Better from the Boks, apart from our 12 who immediately puts his head to burrow down the moment he gets the ball. Offload over the top from RG gets some momentum going.
That man Du Toit powers over.
Soft try.
Steph in. Told you
Steph so good, he needed 4 players to drive him over the line.
Manie...has left 5 points in the field already today.
Libbok kicks like my granny used to swipe her
And just like that Manie makes up for it.
Brilliant kick pass
Faf going for the conversion :) :)
Another walk in for the D Arendse. It's getting embarrassing for Scotland. Where was the defensive cover?
Beautiful try by Boks!
Boks counterruck, pinpoint kick to Arendse via Libbok. Game has come alive a bit now, thank you.
Wiese showing why people calling him dumb muscle was premature
Faf nails the conversion.
Brilliant kick by Libbok
Scots not making much headway against the rush defense. They look a bit disjointed now.
Faf!
Move Willemse to 12 and get Willie on.
Shambles of a lineout, Bok knockon saves the Scots their possession.
Scrum fortunes swinging back to the Boks.
The Scots have given up, b
ut they showed us up today.
Faf converts the penalty.
And the Boks grow bored of attacking and Faf just kicks it to the Scots.
DA entertaining u
The Boks can't attack Pakie.
Surprised the Scots kept possession for as long as they did there while sending single runners into bundles of defenders.
Bongi is really rubbish, first poor throw and then hold on too long
Steph losses the ball, and Damian with a bumbled pass to noone. Sums up the day.
Scots not getting numbers to the tackle.
Ox buckles there.
DA's passes find no one because no one can keep up with the advanced Best 12 In the World game that he is playing.
Willie on, Libbok off.
DA burrows again, Boks lose possession at the breakdown.
The second front row is doing the business.
Another sideways Damian carry with support.
And DA now held up, ball Scotland. What a champ.
Dud held up
Sizzling break by Kolbe.
Scotty has no answers for the Bok defense. Twice just kicking the ball away at a time when they can't afford to. Game over anyway.
Actually Finn Russell is a lucky packet…,today he made a raft ofmistakes
The Scots are impatient in the second half. The Bok defence is looking poor.
Lekker break by Williams.
Not bad, my 15 point prediction. ;)
I should start putting money on games haha
Final play for the Scottish...
Yep a 15 point win for the Boks
Williams was an ankle tap away from scoring the try of the WC.
18-3. Few good moments for the Boks broke the game open, the scrum dominance in the second half helped. Scotland didn't look like they had much to offer in the second half after a strong first with even their stars looking ordinary. Not a whole lot of fight towards the end there either, happy to kick the ball away.
Finn Russell had a good game, and the score would have been higher had he not played.
I think it's blatantly obvious that AE should start our big games now, and that Jessie isn't near Moodie's pedigree.
Manie's kicking is a real issue. He looked to be coming okay and then fell apart today. Very worrying actually.
Malherbe's scrumming also a tad concerning.
Not the game I was hoping for, always felt the Scots were one pass away from scoring. Once they unlock your defence they can become so dangerous.
No man, Dud and Los Piel Kriel completely broke down any backline moves we had.
Willie was also poor, knock on, forward passing and poor kicking. Brought nothing on.
Just hope they play Esterhuizen and Moody against Ireland as our centre combo
Hope Eztebeth is okay
So now we have two weeks of nothing games
before the real tournament starts
Faf, Libbok, Damian, Kriel, Arendse, Willemse, Steph, Malherbe, Kolisi were not worthy of wearing the jersey. It was not a good showing. The Boks showed almost nothing on attack. If you have an open lane, they can run through it very quickly. That's it. I give this showing an F.
I am not happy with that performance, France and Ireland would have beaten the Boks today.
Delande seems to be the main problem...
"The Scots are impatient in the s econd half. The Bok defence is looking poor. "
LOL
Scotland didn't bring much to test us with. They seemed to play very loose in the second half, isolated runners, lacked team dynamic, couldn't get any momentum going. Easy win for a Bok side that looked average for 70 of the 80 minutes and with a clusterfuck combo
Damian is a problem, but not the main problem. The halfbacks were predictably D-. Kolbe has talent, but he was reduced to junking through people. Arendse, yet again, had a walk in for a soft try. Our defence was exceedingly poor. We look devoid of ideas unless opponents let us run at them for free. This is the worst ever Bok side at a WC. That's saying something, as the 2019 side was nothing special.
Comfortable win for the Boks. There defense was excellent and they minced the Scottish scrum in the third quarter. Other than the Scots butchering a shoe in try in the first half they never looked like scoring and their line out was a mess.
I am not happy with that performance, France and Ireland would have beaten the Boks today.
I think so too.
The Bok defence was suspect for 80 minutes. The Scots looked good ball in hand, the Boks showed nothing.
Let's remember that these Scots beat France and ran them close in another game.
It's not all doom and gloom, and perhaps this game was the final nail on the coffin of some players that obviously shouldn't be starting.
A good centre pairing would have made many things look better today.
Also what's wrong with Willie? Geez, he couldn't make a single good decision today. That silly chip to allow a mark was ridiculous. That fact it was a little dink of a kick made it all the easier to catch too.
"I am not happy with that performance, France and Ireland would have beaten the Boks today.
I think so too."
Erm, difficult to say...let's see whay Ireland can do, France wasn't that inspiring in their victory over NZ...Ireland leaked one
The halfbacks were garbage. The centres were poor. The back three were poor. The loose trio Was poor. The starting front row wasn't exactly great. Some poor calls settled the Boks in the first half, and some lack of composure from the Scots. We never looked like a top 6 side for 80 minutes. Scotland lacked poise and patience in the second half. Don't be fooled, this Bok side was exceedingly poor.
@Draht: France looked World class in a top level test. We looked like an unfit bunch of unintelligent plodders in a very average test. Big difference.
France's pack was good, especially the back row
, but they don't look like world champions just yet
Well, we look tier 2 by comparison. That's not to insult tier 2 teams, because a lot of them play
a sophisticated and well coached brand of rugby.
It's hilarious to read through the posts. I could have told you before the game the players who would come in for criticism. Yes of course it had to be Du Toit and Allende and of course Moz has never liked Malherbe ever since he discovered Mike knows the parents.
Mallet was right when he said the Bok defence was outstanding. He believed this was a good start for the Boks with things they could also work on.
I have to mention that if you scroll through the posts and just read the nonsense poor Deus posts you will realize two things. Firstly, he doesn't understand the game and secondly having had his nonsensical comments shredded so many times he now thinks his only redemption will be if the Boks crash. That is his big hope. All the years of bad call etc will all disappear.
Plum wisely notes the Scots are not a bad side. Poor Deus needs to learn from his rugby betters. Hahahahahahaha.
Mallet and Frans both said Eben is a key forward so here is hoping.
Mallet is a clown. Better than the snake oil salesman, but a clown none the less. Our defence was open all game long. Our set pieces were shaky. We didn't do anything particularly well. Even Snyman got stuffed a couple go times! Damian was see going sideways with several Boks driving him forward. Libbok was a turnstyle with little vision or skill.
Very scrappy game….Bok defence held strong but our mid field combination of AE and Moodie is better …if rassie starts laurel and hardy again, we in trouble….Libbok still missing vital points but his kick pass was perfect….our pack as usual did the Brunt of the work…we will have to do better if we want to win The top teams.
Scotland beat france 3 weeks ago and almost beat them again 2 weeks ago in Paris...this is a very good Scottish outfit and we beat them fair and square...solid performance, I don't get all the
doom and gloom.
Just a question, how strong was the French team they fielded in those games, was it their strongest team (excluding injuries)
Can someone phone Rassie, SARFU, Malherbe's father, or Meyer Boesman's mother - anyone, we need to get rid of Delande? Esterhuizen offers much more.
Kriel does appear to understand the defensive system. but we need more on attack.
I'm not 100% but I think France may have been close to full strength for the first game.
So, let's count...
Oz, Wales, ABs, Argies, Scotland...
All teams we beat this year who couldn't do much to us.
Today's side wasn't a full strength one and we saw off a very solid Scotland without too much trouble. A decent centre paring may has seen us best them by 25 instead of 15.
Could have been a 20 point victory if Manie didn't fall apart again too.
I'm personally quite happy with where we are. Beating one of the better teams without having to hit 6th gear.
If we see off Ireland in a few weeks...would we then be happy?
To improve the attack we must sack Erasputin and install a new coach. To improve the attack the entire n needs to be rebuilt from scratch. Every facet dovetails together. You can't merely "make the attack better" without affecting the overall patterns and systems, and overall philosophy of the team.
"Just a question, how strong was the French team they fielded in those games, was it their strongest team (excluding injuries)"
The first match in Scotland was against a second string French side...the second one in Paris was against the full strength team...Scotty is better than some on here would like to think...the Paddies are nervous, that's for sure.
Scotland were not prepared to take this unique test. As I predicted.
Lol VisKoP
I swear the entire country and every Bok fan everywhere agrees on one thing...DDA should be dropped!
Damian is a problem, but why now? He is the best he has ever been. He is now becoming a scapegoat for the wider problems and Erasputin's failings. Why not Steph? Libbok? Faf? Kolisi? Arendse? Lood? Malherbe? It's too common for one player to be made a scapegoat. Replacing Damian with Esterhuizen won't improve how the team functions. It'll only improve the quality from 12. People just don't want to admit that the Boks overall are simply not that good, and that Erasputin hasn't improved any aspect of Bok rugby.
The first match in Scotland was against a second string French side...the second one in Paris was against the full strength team
I'm kinda baffled as to why anyone puts any emphasis on world cup warm up matches.
Scotty is better than some on here would like to think...the Paddies are nervous, that's for sure.
Scotland are indeed better than some think but Ireland are a step above them. As for nerves, sure, still expect us to win though.
Rassie is the DJ... don't sack a winning DJ.... as long as he's there let him continue.
He looks a bit ill though up there in the coaches box,he had mos an autoimmune disease last World
Cup.
Libbok is as I said before, nothing but another Elton who is out of his league.
The first two kicks he duffed any decent #10 would have converted.
Absolutely beyond belief.
How many more games do we have to suffer through with him at #10 before the penny drops?
Sure he had one or two good kicks for the wingers to catch and one try came form those two plays but the Springboks need post kicks to be made not blown.
Mike's buddy in the front row once again had a poor game.
Malherbe was the weakest of our props today.. the two bomb squad guys did the business, but it was mostly destabilizing the Scottish tightheads.
AJ, Pollard is injured...who should play 10 for the Boks if not Manie?
Moz, backline posers should not opine about the dark arts of front rowing.
https://www.planetrugby.com/news/south-africa-player-ratings-siya-kolisi-and-bomb-squad-shine-in-win-over-scotland
Manie's kicking is 100% a mental thing.
Some of the kicks he's missing are one's a schoolboy would slot. He's a far better kicker than he's kicking for the Boks.
His defence is also concerning. Missed a howler against the ABs and was leaky last night too.
I'm rooting for him but we left something like 12 points on the field yesterday.
Yep, I said before this world cup that Libbok will cost us ... I have just not been convinced at all, and I hope he easily proves me wrong
In a close game against AB's, France or Ireland, he could be a huge liability
After reflecting,
I actually think I am being too hard on Manie.....He doesn't deserve it .. my bad

This should be a straightforward win for the Boks. But we have a few question marks. The small guys vs Duhan….Willemse and Libbok under pressure. The loosies. And the centres.
Things will be much more enjoyable if we win convincingly today.
