In a Currie Cup clash that was more like a rodeo, the Boland Cavaliers bucked the odds and the Bulls to secure a thrilling 28-20 victory this Sunday in Wellington. With the drama heightened by a flurry of yellow cards, Boland's comeback was nothing short of spectacular, surging from behind to snatch fourth place in the standings after four rounds.

The Bulls initially charged ahead, capitalizing on Boland prop Doctor Booysen's early sin-bin stint, with Demitre Erasmus slicing through for the first score. Not long after, Jaco Grobbelaar bulldozed over, and with Boeta Chamberlain's boot swinging true, the visitors looked set at 12-0. But as the saying goes, it ain't over till it's over.

After regrouping, Boland struck back before halftime. Sidney Tobias, the hooker with more drive than a sports car showroom, muscled his way over the line. Flyhalf Ashlon Davids nailed the conversion, trimming the deficit to 12-7.

Post-break, Chamberlain slotted a penalty to widen the gap, but Boland, sparked by Donavan Don's dazzling footwork, clawed back into the game. The plot thickened when Boland was briefly down to 13 men, thanks to the sin-binning of Louis Schreuder and Michael Benadie. The Bulls pounced with Nama Xaba crashing over, but Boland was far from done.

"Donavan Don is a try-scoring machine,"

a commentator remarked as the Blitzboks star notched his seventh of the season.

Discipline, or the lack thereof, turned the tide in Boland's favor. With Bulls center Cornel Smit benched for his misdemeanors, Boland's former Bulls enforcer Khwezi Mafu stormed over to edge the hosts ahead 21-20. As frustrations boiled over for the Bulls, Esethu Mnebelele also saw yellow, setting the stage for another ex-Bull, Dayan van der Westhuizen, to barrel over and seal the deal for Boland at 28-20.

Next, the Cavaliers ride out to Nelspruit to face the Pumas, while the Bulls trot back to Loftus Versfeld, hopeful for redemption against the Griquas. As they say in rugby, you're only as good as your next game, and both teams will be champing at the bit to prove their mettle.
