March 28, 2026 - Bulls coach Johan Ackermann has declared that his team is not just showing up to fill the numbers in the upcoming Investec Champions Cup last-16 playoff against the Glasgow Warriors. Coming off a narrow entry into the playoffs after a thrilling 26-24 win over Pau in France, the Bulls are setting their sights on a full-throttle performance at Scotstoun Stadium next Saturday.

The Pretoria squad, currently juggling their ambitions in the Vodacom URC, has faced a tough season, but that nail-biting victory in France snapped a worrying seven-match skid. Despite the uphill battle, Ackermann's message is loud and clear, "If we're in the playoffs of the EPCR, we must give it a go. We're going to go out and give it our best shot."

"We've got nothing to lose. We're going to go there, go hard and give ourselves an opportunity. If we go further, that's great, and then we take it from there."

The Bulls are riding a wave of cautious optimism following a recent 34-31 victory against Munster at Loftus, which kept their playoff hopes alive in the URC. However, Ackermann has been upfront about the need for improvement, especially against a team like Glasgow Warriors, known for their formidable attacking prowess. "Glasgow is the next challenge. We need to be better than today, because they will punish you if we make the same defensive errors," he noted, recognizing the caliber of their upcoming Scottish rivals.

As preparations get underway, the Bulls are setting the stage for what could either be a tournament upset or a valiant battle against one of the best attacking sides in the league. "They’re probably the best attacking side in the competition, so it’s a massive challenge," Ackermann added, highlighting the gravity of the matchup.

The team's itinerary includes a light practice session on Monday before they jet off to Scotland. "We’ll put a few things in place for Glasgow and then we fly on Monday. Tuesday will just be a quiet day to get our bodies right," Ackermann shared about the team's schedule leading up to the big game.

The Investec Champions Cup round of 16 is set to be a thrilling stage of rugby, with other notable matches including Northampton Saints vs Castres, and Toulon vs Stormers, all leading up to what promises to be an exhilarating weekend of top-tier rugby action.
