It was a tale of two halves at Loftus Versfeld, where Johan Ackermann's Vodacom Bulls put on a spectacular show, rallying from behind to clinch a 53-40 victory over the Ospreys. The home squad, led by the unstoppable Johan Grobbelaar who bagged a hat-trick, stormed past their opponents with a nine-try extravaganza, thrilling the local fans.

The Ospreys initially looked like they might spoil the party, darting out of the gates with early tries from Keelan Giles and Keiran Williams, and with Dan Edwards's boot adding the extras, they quickly went up 12-0. However, the Bulls, refusing to be outdone on their turf, responded through Marcell Coetzee who bulldozed over the line, not once but twice, evening the scores and setting the stage for a dramatic showdown.

"Marcell Coetzee goes over for the Vodacom @BlueBullsRugby first try!"

The drama heightened when Bulls' fullback Devon Williams received a yellow card, opening the door for the Ospreys to capitalize. Jack Walsh and Williams again found the try line, pushing the visitors ahead 26-12. But just before the half-time whistle, Grobbelaar's try gave the Bulls a much-needed boost.

The comeback kings of Pretoria, the Bulls dominated the second half. With Grobbelaar completing his hat-trick and URC debutant Cheswill Jooste showing his mettle with two tries, the Bulls surged ahead. The Ospreys' woes compounded with James Fender's sin-binning, leading to further scores from Nicolaas Janse van Rensburg, Jan Serfontein, and Juann Els.

The Ospreys attempted to claw back with Morgan Morse touching down and Giles adding another, but it was too little too late. The Bulls had firmly taken the reins, finishing the game with a commanding lead. The final whistle marked a strong start to the season for the Bulls, highlighting their depth and resilience.
