I didn't get to watch the first half live. So, I had preconceptions based on what I had been reading. I was anticipating and ready to lambast Willemse. I was surprised to see that Willie was the acting 10, he dictated play almost entirely until the last 10 minutes where we saw Libbok throwing some regulation passes, getting dumped, and turned over. I'm not a fan of Willemse, but he has been made a scapegoat here. He made some errors, but was generally one of the more effective backs. The fact that the media and clowns here couldn't spot the roles they played because of teh number on their jerseys highlights how ignorant and stupid the masses are. This was an extraordinary gaff. Similar to Schalk playing flyhalf for Meyer, yet praising Steph for performing the same POD rile under Erasmus. Willemse is not merely better than Libbok, he is miles ahead of him in every aspect of play.
Marx changed the game? He was largely just hanging around. He didn't change play at all. Thor was anonymous aside from one run and a couple of tackles. Wiese wasn't getting into the game as much, but was quite a bit better and more involved. Steph actually provided a lot of energy, and was one of the better bench options. Steph, Snyman, Koch were the key bench men who popped up time and time again for their rushing, and their pressure at the breakdown. Steph was actually quite good pressuring the NZ breakdown. He was cutting a fine line with his rushes, but mostly he was effective. Smith was all over the breakdown from start to finish and caused a lot of problems. He was one of the best Boks on the day. Eben was also a strong performer.
Overall, the Boks didn't show much. It wasn't a strong showing for individuals. New Zealand's 10, 12, 15, 4 really bossed the Boks. Our attack wasn't very good. We got a try for Kolbe as N11 busted line integrity, and there was no cover in behind. A simple ball by Willie exposed the broken defensive structure that we showed little sign of breaking down. The same units as before, the link man which as mostly Willie to a POD with a back underneath. Ruck, then hit the next phase with the same structure, but different personnel. Depth was an issue, connectivity between the units was about a 3/10. We were outclassed in the air, and with the boot. N21 looked very sharp and kept NZ attacking in waves with great speed and precision. They look much more polished than we did. When they worked us in the second half, our pack looked weaker. The second half was overrated by the Boks. We looked clueless for most of it. We also got lucky for a call against Retallick for the penalty that set up a lineout. This was the Marx try. It was a bad call against him, as Kits was holding on quite clearly. That's two cheap tries for the Boks. Some food for thought.
Libbok was useless. He was largely anonymous until the last ten minutes. He alternated with Willie a few times and did nothing of note. He looks like a carbon copy of 2012 Goosen. Not a test 10 with no ability to manage the game. Williams was better than Faf.
The big change in the second half was the increased line speed and outside rush, as well as pressuring nearly every breakdown.

outside. Tackle S6. S6 pressures N9 slowing pass. S20 rushes around fringe, was about
to be beaten, S10 takes N6 and stops him. S20 then drives him forward, toward Bok
side of play. S6 attack ruck, gets cleared slightly, but slows ball.
57:36 - S4-S22 rush outside N20. N20 to N10, S4 breaks on N10, but slips the tackle. S22 tries
to take him, but he slips a ball out. NZ breakout down the left touchline. N12 draws S1,
pass to N11. N11 draws S14, pass to N18. S22 catches him, flat line of S6-S20-S21
behind. S20 attempts counter ruck but makes no impact whatsoever.
