All Blacks scrum-half Cam Roigard is eyeing a dramatic return to the international stage against the Wallabies later this month at Eden Park, following his comeback in provincial rugby this weekend. After a setback with a stress fracture in his right foot during the buildup to the Rugby Championship, Roigard is now poised to don the black jersey once more, provided he showcases his form and fitness.

Roigard, who had been a pivotal player for the All Blacks in their series against France, missed the initial phase of the Rugby Championship due to the injury. "It wasn’t until the week off before Argentina that I noticed something was off. I felt a twinge during an acceleration drill, shrugged it off, but the pain persisted," Roigard shared on DSPN’s 'Day In The Life' show with John Day.

This weekend, Roigard will lace up for Counties Manukau as they face Auckland in Pukekohe, a NPC clash that also features All Blacks stars Caleb Clarke and Rieko Ioane. "It’ll be good fun to play against them," Roigard admitted, relishing the challenge of going head-to-head with his national teammates.

"I think roughly around 30 minutes (game-time), which will be good. It’ll be good to hopefully close out the game, be able to help out the boys on the bench."

Roigard’s return isn’t just significant for his club; it carries implications for the All Blacks as they prepare to host Australia. The scrum-half is optimistic about his chances of selection for the Bledisloe Cup fixture. "If I manage to perform this weekend and my foot holds up, I see no reason why I wouldn’t be considered for the Eden Park clash," he stated confidently.

"And if I pull up all good, my foot sweet, which I’m sure it will be and if I’m available and they think that I can do a good job, then no doubt I’ll be able to step in and do what’s needed for sure."

As the All Blacks continue to navigate injuries within their ranks, Roigard’s potential return could not be more timely. With the high-stakes game against the Wallabies fast approaching, his recovery and on-field performance this weekend could very well dictate the dynamics of the All Blacks' squad in one of rugby’s most historic rivalries.
