Our incumbents are in their 30’s in de Allende, Esterhuizen, Am and Kriel so new blood needs to be unearthed
We have seen a few gems emerge already with a few handy others not beyond pushing for glory
The ones that have already made a mark are Willemse at 12 and Moodie at 13…..so these two are the front runners
Others that have attended alignment camps or played in the Bok A side are Hooker at 12 who has also played 13 for the Sharks. Henco v Wyk at the Lions attended the alignment camps and had he not been injured probably would have been capped against Portugal. Similane has made the Bok A squad and is one of those mystery players. He always looks the business to me but fails to get investment - I suspect due the questions against his defence.
A player that was making waves just before he left for Japan was Rickus Pretorious the tall 12 who played a couple of seasons as a Baby Bok. He is out of the picture thanks to being in Japan and would need to return home to fight his way back into the picture
I really like the young Griquas centre pair of Zwelendaba at 12 and Xamlashe at 13. Another player that has always impressed me is Marnus Potgieter of the Sharks who mostly gets wasted on the wing there but is actually a handy 13. Stedman Gans of the Bulls is a handy 13, the ex Blitzbokke has those slippery 7’s attributes
As for David Kriel of the Bulls it’s beyond me how he has not made an alignment camp. The guy has been awesome be it at 12 or 13. Travesty
Jordan Hendrikse looked good at 12 for the Lions - has bulked up nicely
The current Baby Bok squad had a wealth of talented centres on board, so much so that the stupid coach selected them all and played most of them out of position
Jurenzo Julius at 13 is definitely the real deal, as I suspect is the case with Bruce Sherwood at 12, our next Jean de Villiers - but unfortunately for him he only had a handful of games at 12 with the rest wasted at 15. I really liked the look of Joshua Boulle at 12, this guy is a de Allende clone in looks and strength. Bester played on the wing but is a 13 now partnering Julius for the Sharks CC side. PA v Niekerk is another in that squad who is a good 12
A player I had high hopes for and posted a highlights video of a few seasons back is James Mollentze who left for Japan at the same time Rickus did. He played 10 for the Baby Boks but was a very handy 12. Suffered a knee injury playing for the Lions before leaving for Japan
I hear good things about Roche the current WP 12 and there is Hartzenberg a 13 mostly used on the wing
So what do we have:
13. Moodie / Julius / Henco v Wyk / Xamlashe / Similane/ Potgieter / Hartzenberg / Gans / Bester

Will be interesting to see which two replace de Allende and Am/Kriel
My favourite 3 right now would be Willemse, Moodie and Julius with David Kriel pushing hard
