On a chilly Saturday in Cardiff, Cobus Reinach etched his name in the annals of rugby history, notching his 50th cap with the Springboks during a record-shattering 73-0 thrashing of Wales. This victory was the cherry on top of a spectacular 2025 season, which saw the Boks maintaining their unbeaten streak on their year-end tour.

Reinach, who sprinted off the bench in a strategic move that saw all eight subs dubbed the “Nuclear Squad” unleashed simultaneously, reflected on the season's successes. “It’s not just the tour – it’s the whole season,” he shared. “We adapted more than before and grew game by game. Even in setbacks, we learned more than from easy wins. It’s been an unreal season.”

The milestone of 50 caps was a moment of pride for Reinach, highlighting the honor he feels each time he dons the Springbok jersey.

“It’s always special just to put on the jersey,”

he said. “Whether it’s cap one or cap 140 like Eben [Etzebeth], it’s a privilege. Having done that now 50 times is unreal – something I’ll always be thankful for.”

Despite light-hearted banter about his advancing age, Reinach's ambition burns fiercely, with eyes firmly set on the 2027 World Cup. “Definitely the [2027] World Cup is still in my sights,” he chuckled. “I feel good, lots of energy in the legs – even if the hairline’s going back! The competition in this squad pushes you to be better every day. There’s a lot more in the tank.”

The scrumhalf also praised the team's unity and collective ethos, essential ingredients to their continued success. “It’s how tight we are. Whether you hit highs or lows, no one gets thrown out. The boys pick you up, the management picks you up. We work for each other and for the people back home,” he emphasized.

Reinach’s appreciation for the Bok supporters was palpable as he acknowledged the massive crowds that followed them across the globe. “From London to France to Ireland – thank you,” he expressed. “We’re all over the world, but we’re one people. We can’t do what we do without you.”

With the Boks returning home as conquering heroes, it's clear that the green and gold brigade, under the astute guidance of Rassie Erasmus and through the spirited performances of players like Reinach, are not just playing matches; they are crafting legacies.
