Who will have the better performance?

DDA was his usual quiet and barely contributing self on Saturday.

So yeah, I've picked my winner across the Ozzie leg, and it's Am.

Also looking forward to seeing...

As a 12 de Allende all day long

The question is, who are the best 12's playing the game today? 12's role has evolved in the modern era and now seen either as a battering ram or a 2nd 10 with distribution skills.

The best 12 was Jean De Villiers. That guy had size, pace and skill, pity Heineken Meyer couldn't use his full skill set. Then we had the likes of Sonny Bill, so dangerous with his off load and line breaking. Always a threat with ball in hand or off the ball. I remember watching him play against the sharks at Twickenham for the Cursaders, that guy run such great angles were a threat everytime he touched the ball.

Imagine having a player like that, that can open up a midfield and let the fast backs come off his shoulder.

Does dud come close to them, no.

Am is a really special player. What dud do well is that he can make dents, not the best passer, but he is a 2nd loose forward. Strong on his feet.

Ma Nonu begs to differ, but he and Jean ain't playing no more...DdA is much better than given credit for.

Three matches this year Ireland and Australia…..Dud Allende, no tries, no try assists. When you have nothing, trying for something is the rational thing to do.

DdA is much better than given credit for.

As a third flanker. As a 12, not so much.

Ja, ja, I know....

So much rugby ignorance on one thread

You lot should not be on a rugby message board

You’re right, you need a message board all to yourself

I do sometimes wonder why I bother - I’m a sucker for an argument I guess - much like you are

We seem to get off on it without taking it seriously

SFM will give Am opportunities, and Am won't die with them.

But what is the point of picking Am there? He won't play there against anyone good and he isn't a long term prospect for 12 anyway(age).

So in a test where experimentation appears to be the order of the day, why waste minutes on Am when you could get 80 valuable minutes of insight into some other long term 12 prospect? And it's not like nobody is knocking at the door for the 12 spot.

I mean, unless the idea is to move away from the DDA at 12 gameplan and to a more fluid one where we won't be picking supposed bruisers there any longer...but rather players like Willemse?

To steel man the above, I'd argue that DDA struggles keep up in support of Pollard, who is nowhere near as snappy as SFM. And if the stars are telling us the truth, then SFM  is the future long term Bok 10. So, given the other options that are available, do we rate we'd get the best out of our best player with DDA or with a more dynamic 12, like Willemse?
