The little chain icon. Highlight the text you want to link, click on the chain button, paste the link in the box.

Did you highlight the text first? It doesn't do anything unless you highlight text first.

Works for me, but you can't give the link a name like "here" like you used to.

Yes, but you first have to type or paste the address into the text box, then you select that URL link and only then do you click on the chain/cable.
