Esterhozen the best 12 in the game?

….Jordie Barrett has been very good at 12 all year. But Esterhozen dominated him yesterday. Power, a step, vision and a great offload…he ignited our backline.

Aug 26, 2023, 15:48

And there ain't too many other 12s around that would do much better against him either.

Fans are basically in unison calling for him to start from here on out.

Haha stick with Moz and Plum...I had too ;)

Aug 26, 2023, 16:03

I like that…carries a bit more weight than just stick with moz.

Aug 26, 2023, 16:05

He was good with his individual breaks through sheer power - no steps or offloads

He created nothing for his outside backs

Don’t get me wrong he was good and I really like him but let’s stick to the facts

He ignited a big fat zero

I like AE, but NZ left their guts on the bus last night...

Aug 26, 2023, 17:45

Had they done that, they'd not have held out so well for the first quarter of the game.

They're just not good anymore and those 20 mins against us in their back yard gave them a false sense of security.

Aug 26, 2023, 18:31

They're still good, but I think the Boks at last lost their "fear" of the Allblacks...we allways give them more resoect and reverence than they deserve...last night we only played what was in front of us...they were shell shocked last night.

Since the Saffas left SR there has been a stark decline in AB performances.

Coincidence?

For me, they were getting to sharpen themselves against us consistently. Now they don't have that anymore. The Saffas are playing against Euro sides which aren't as tough as the Kiwis but keep us sharp enough. On top of that we're becoming more popular overall and we're far more accustomed to NH refs and conditions.

They need to figure something out because they're going to start falling behind further.

Saffas are sitting pretty in my view. More of our players are playing at a higher level than theirs(ABs). There's just no substitute for that.

Gives us a bigger pool to pick from, wider rage of experience and more opportunities for everyone.

Feel a tad guilty dropping the Kiwis like that but thus far it has turned out to be the right move.

Why should we not do something that's good for us?

Aug 26, 2023, 19:31

I thought the Kiwis dropped or pushed us out of SR?

Aug 26, 2023, 19:35

DbDraad you nailed it.

The AB's KaK KaK should be banned as it is an attempt to intimidate the other team and was adopted from the Locals (M's) who have always performed this prior to their games against visiting teams.

Not a national tradition but a M one.

Adopted by the All Blacks and could be played after the game and lets see how the other teams react once they have beaten the AB's plus let us see the intensity in the AB's performance then.

Finally let us hope that this brave front offered by Springboks will set the tone for other countries to follow.

Much like those pumped up idiots (impi so called warriors) who take to the field prior to local tests in RSA.

Becoming a circus.

I think Rassie will start with DDA and Kriel against Scotland…but these 2 will be under immediate pressure to perform, especially with the very impressive combo of AE/Moodie .

Indeed they did...lol!

I had the same thought about the ABs Plum. I think they are simply not experiencing the level of forward challenge in Super Rugby. By contrast we are missing the most creative back play.. but thats more easily resolved by coaching. You have to experience a Bok  pack to know what’s required of you physically.

Stick with Plum and moz.

Aug 27, 2023, 05:07

Haha Moz

One wonders if the Kiwis recognise it though?

If you look at what's been happening to Kiwi packs at the hands of NH teams, one doubts they're happy with where they are.

And what happens when Whitelock, Jaws and Ardie retire?

For us, when Eben, Kitshoff, or anyone else retires, we've got guys coming through...seemingly endlessly. And those guys are cutting their teeth in tight international competitions that are well managed.

It really is probably as simple as sparring against weak opposition and then being found out on fight night.

It's very difficult to not feel as though we're leaving them behind.

Would love to hear what our Kiwi friends think of the situation.

Of course, it's easy to call the apocalypse that was Twickers a one-off. But is it more of a one-off than those excellent 20 they play against us in the RC?

They dominated us for 20 mins on their home turf. We dominated them for 80 on neutral ground.

Stepping back a little and taking their performances over the last 24 months in account, those dominant 20 minutes against us is the exception. Remove those 20 and where are they?

Remove Friday's game and where are we?

Aug 27, 2023, 13:14

How great would Savea have been in a dominant pack…coming off the base on a scrum that totally commits the opposing shovers. When he and the two great locks go, there seems to be a huge void. And there are no answers in the island pipeline, at least for positions like lock and one has yet to be convinced at prop as well.

Aug 27, 2023, 15:45

Savea is a beast - he just never stops

Mozart

Your take on players are mostly made up  garbage.   Yu dislike certain players and refuse toa admit anything positive about them - according  to you it just did not happen.    Once somebody mentioned a player in the Meyer disaster period who should replace one of your favorites that player as doomed for life by you.

You would find all kind of BS excuses like you did about Du Toit's selection as Player of the Year in 2019 - ignoring the fact that the players are chosen by a Committee of experienced rugby internationals who know more about rugby than you do.   You admitted yourself that your hatred of some players make you ignore anything positive they did in games.

In 2019 you and others of your lousy group of ignoramuses forecasted all doom and gloom for the Springboks in the WC and so you did this year.   I saw the BS was reaigning supreme and started to lose interest on the rugby component of the site -because there was nothing new coming out of contributions made by members.   Maybe now with teh WC starting soon something positive will follow.

Clever

If I could buy you at my price and sell you at your price it would be a nice little trade. Trouble is the only buyers would be Russia bots and who wants Rubles,

Sep 03, 2023, 19:00

Yes ou Mozzzzquito not only makes terrible blunders regarding players (Eg Du Toit) and the Boks but then doubles and triples down compounding the error.:D

The oak has lost his marbles!

Sep 04, 2023, 01:13

I notice you don’t mention Dud Allende, could it be that you think I was right all along? Stick with moz.

Sep 04, 2023, 05:40

Moz, even after recent performances where AE basically monstered his opposite number in every game, some people still rate DDA above AE.

Let's remember that this is the very first time AE has had a string of starts.

And it's taken him only one small constant run in the side to show this form and how much better the side is with him in it.

We're now getting to the bottom of the barrel. The "experience" argument. AE is better but DDA has WC experience therefore he must start. And that's basically just fans saying that they wanna a particular player to play but they don't really have a valid reason.

A smart person would ask "Where is his ceiling for the Boks because thus far he has improved with every run out he gets?"

Some fans don't notice AE's form, don't recognise the stark difference in how the backs perform when he's there and will never dream of changing their minds based on new information.

In short they don't see what's in front of them and even if they did it wouldn't change their minds.

I call that the definition of a lost cause.

Sep 04, 2023, 06:16

Yeah right . . . stick with moz . . .

"Slowest back in Super Rugby . . . My vote would go Andre Esterhozen....props fly by him on the kick chase."

"it has to be Jake's  fault that Esterhosen lost all his pace. The lad was greased lightning before Jake said if he looks like a flank, runs like a flank and eats like a flank...he must be a flank."

"Moz spot on as usual, Esterhozen is a snail. But he may just be a better centre than our other choice for 12......Duh Allende, the tractor, no speed merchant himself."

LMAO!

Yet here's this puffed up and opinionated old fart trying to claim he's the one who spotted Esterhuizen and we should all stick with what he says!

"Stick with moz" . . . too funny!

Sep 04, 2023, 08:48

Bwahahahahahahaha  Mozzzzquito crash landing! :D

Sep 04, 2023, 16:44

Mosquitos don’t crash HasBeen, they land deftly on their feet while looking for the next victim….care to comment on your call that choosing Biden as their candidate doomed the Democrats?

Sep 04, 2023, 17:52

I recall stupid Jake wanting to move Esterhuizen to flank - about sums Jake up as a coach

Sep 05, 2023, 07:43

Certainly Mozz always willing to help you.

I said the only way Biden could win was through massive election rigging. This happened as will be proved in court due to the Trump indictments.

Secondly, Biden has been busy destroying America but by doing this he is destroying the demonrat party.

The future of America depends on free and fair elections. Democrats can't win unless the chest in a grand scale. See what happens.

I see Ron DeSantis is done. Hahahahaha.

Hoping the Globalist Cabal get the boot. Best sell your Raytheon shares if it looks likr Trump wins presidency.

Big Pharma will also take a knock as Trump Says no compulsory jabs. No wonder you are against Trump. Bwahahahahaha.
