Maro Itoje couldn't be happier with Owen Farrell's return to Saracens, claiming that the seasoned England fly-half has slipped back into the team dynamics like a glove. Farrell's comeback is already sparking joy and ramping up performance levels for the Premiership heavyweights, following his brief stint with Racing 92 in France.

Farrell, who recently celebrated his 34th birthday, has hit the ground running, guiding Saracens to convincing victories against the Newcastle Red Bulls and the Bristol Bears. His prowess on the field hasn't missed a beat, displaying why he's still one of the top playmakers in the game. Itoje was quick to sing his praises, noting, “Owen brings that edge and drive that’s been a part of Saracens for as long as I’ve been here. He sets the tone in training and in games – his competitiveness, his preparation, his attention to detail – those things rub off on everyone.”

“It’s like he never left. He knows the system, he knows the players, and the players know him. It just feels right having him back.”

Farrell has donned the No. 10 jersey in both matches since his return, commanding the field with the authority of a seasoned general. The ease of his integration has been notable, with Itoje remarking on the seamless transition.

The timing of Farrell's return could not be better as Saracens aim to claw back to the top of the Premiership after a disappointing last season. Itoje is confident that Farrell's presence will be a pivotal factor in their campaign. “Having someone of Owen’s experience and mentality is invaluable. He raises standards and pushes everyone to be better. That’s the Saracens way,” he explained.

With Farrell back at the helm, Saracens are not just looking to compete — they are looking to dominate. The early signs suggest they just might have the firepower and leadership to do just that. As the season unfolds, both fans and foes will be watching closely, perhaps with a hint of envy and a lot of anticipation.
