Great news for the Boks

Feb 27, 2025, 21:31

Jones is aa fun guy - much like Erasmus himself - he believes in ccomputer match anaysis to dtetermine wher nag how improvements is to be done - not only in respect of the team as a whole - but in the main of insividual players as well, Yjay in geeral result in both team and player development as well,

Jones was aleays stationed in D ublin and only joined the coaching component fo tessts andhis main job was aaaato monitor performance of SA players playing in Europeand report on them to Erasmus,

His appointment can only bnefit S pringbok Rugby. l

Back to the future!

Feb 28, 2025, 08:36

He will help with what exactly?? Last time he was here, he was supposedly the Attack coach….but all we saw was Erasmus,s Stampkar deluxe…

Brown is now the Attack coach and to many cook’s spoil the broth.

Feb 28, 2025, 08:53

"Last time he was here, he was supposedly the Attack coach"

Do at least try to keep up, giMp, he was the defence coach.

Feb 28, 2025, 08:58

Fuck off, really??

Feb 28, 2025, 09:19

"Felix Jones last role as a Assistant coach with the Springboks, was as Backline Coach.

He joined the team ahead of 2023 Rugby World Cup, working under head Coach Jaques Nienhaber.

Jones, who previously played for Ireland, brought his expertise in the Backline and Attack to the Springboks during his period."

Feb 28, 2025, 10:48

Hogwash.

"Felix Jones was previously part of the Springboks' coaching setup as a defensive consultant during their 2019 Rugby World Cup-winning campaign. He was later promoted to a full-time assistant coach specializing in defense and team strategy, playing a key role in their successful 2023 Rugby World Cup victory.

After the 2023 World Cup, Jones joined England as their defense coach under Steve Borthwick but left in early 2025, reportedly due to dissatisfaction with the working environment. Now, he has rejoined the Springboks in an assistant coaching role alongside Rassie Erasmus and other staff."

Feb 28, 2025, 11:31

No Mike he has mostly been with the Boks the whole time 8 years it’s why he wanted to return home for family

But Borthwick was too stupid to appreciate his talents with Felix saying the English environment was an uncomfortable one to work in

Basically Borthwick is a complete twat but thank goodness for that as it is clear from Chasing the Sun that Felix played a big part in the Bok camp and now he is back, so fasten your boots as the Rassie machine has only got stronger

[herpes cures]

Feb 28, 2025, 11:35

Yes, the Chasing the Sun series was an eye opener in terms of the contribution made by Felix Jones. No question this strengthens us.

Feb 28, 2025, 13:44

Hogwash yourself Red Neck…..so which is it now??

In the last World Cup cycle with South Africa, Jones served as South Africa's attack coachwhile also acting as the point of contact for the Springboks' European-based players outside of the Test windows.1 day ago

Feb 28, 2025, 17:35

Another great Luckmus move.

Feb 28, 2025, 20:06

Best coach ever

Mar 01, 2025, 12:31

Agree with Dave on this one - the idiots hating Erasmus is in opposition again - while Easmus turned out to be the best Springbok coach ever,

Jones' return will help the Springboks and Eramus a lot and if he thinks Jones is going to be of help only idiots will think othewise, The Springboks have three major opponents all played awaty from SA thsi year namely the All Blacks (2 matched in New Zealand) and one in Paris and the oer in Dublin - so lets wait to see whether the results adds to the joy of Mozart and co if the Springboks lose those matches,

Mar 01, 2025, 14:14

No one wants the Boks to loose…just questioning the validity of the Jones selection….

how exactly did he improve the Boks in his first stint as a assistant coach?

It was not clear to see with Erasmus,s blue print still very dominant in our preferred style of playing.

Mar 01, 2025, 14:24

"No one wants the Boks to loose…"

I wouldn't be so sure, giMp. I think you underestimate the hatred Moffie has for Rassie and PSdT.

When the final whistle blew after the RWC final it was a like a dagger in Moffie's heart . . . and the dagger was twisted a few weeks later when the great PSdT was named World Rugby Player of the Year.

LMAO!

Mar 02, 2025, 15:10

Manpower you quesion the appointment of Jones - so I assume you know more about Rugby Coaching than Erasmus does,

Mar 02, 2025, 16:00

No I never claimed to know more than Erasmus….Don’t assume.

All I was asking is in which facet of Bok play, did Felix improve the players/Team?

It was difficult to see as the predominant preferred way of playing is thru Forward play…..

At least with Brown progress in Bok Backline play is a Bit More noticeable.

Mar 02, 2025, 16:41

None of us are ever going to know the exact impact an individual coach has on the side as we are not privy to the inner workings of the side but what Chasing the Sun did do was give us a glimpse of that inner workings and what is certain is that Felix was certainly one of the most impactful contributors

Mar 03, 2025, 11:24

There iss one thing Erasmus mentioned at one stage about Jones is true and that is he is value of strategies to be used against opposition players iro vulnerabilities and that does not make him the backline coach - which will remain as his main role - he is not giong to take over from Browne as backline coach - or for that matter any other asistant coach and not be a backline or attack coach he was cblamed to be in the past. He never was the backline coach in any event.

If there is something Jones can be expected it is the deciding of startegies that other assistant coaches would then coaches the players to implement. .in specific matches, So he si a strategy advisor and nothing else,

The other thing that is amazing to me is that memebrs are constantly moan about abckline attacks under Erasmus -while there were virtually nne of it uder Meyer and less under Coeee. The stats uder Erasmus is much better whe attacking play by the abckline is much mire in evidence and loosies participating in abckline attackin g play is also much more in evidne han it used to be, while under Whte it is absically non-existent - bt he man is always about Erasmus and not the other dud ex-coaches of the S prigboks.

.

Mar 03, 2025, 14:18

Jones flew under the radar a lot of the time.\He was a shrewd appointment by Rassie.

Im stoked to have him back. To be honest, when he went to work with Borthwick, i was a bit jealous!

Mar 03, 2025, 15:37

Someone here said the other day, now Erasmus must just bring back Nienhaber….

If Jones improves the Boks strategic approach then good…..

Mar 04, 2025, 18:14

Mar 04, 2025, 18:40

YAWN

Mar 12, 2025, 05:17

By the way I see Rugby 365 is running a pole on the Jones appointment issue and 73% of he particiapants is in favor of Jones being re-appointed by SARU, In tems of the 2018 agrement leading to the apointment of Erasmus he will decide on appointment of staff in the coaching set-up and SARU will nt make appointments without Erasmus's support, In other words Erasmus waned the appointment and SARU obliged,
