Hard to predict….France with the greater talent…..Ireland with the game plan, but have they lost James Lowe?

Mar 08, 2025, 16:18

Lowe is a big loss.

Mar 08, 2025, 16:19

Not sure if I'll be able to watch, looks like load shedding is messing with the internet. Barely anything is loading or is as fast as it should be.

Mar 08, 2025, 16:21

Prendergast sending a kick over that apparently no one was expecting or chasing.

Mar 08, 2025, 16:28

That was a frantic start…Ireland so direct. Doris a hell of a player

Mar 08, 2025, 16:33

This has to be reviewed. Looked like a knock

Mar 08, 2025, 16:34

Regardless du Pont has some gas.

Mar 08, 2025, 16:44

France in the lead…Ramos misses

Mar 08, 2025, 16:46

Belmondo looks relaxed. Brilliant exit by France they are looking r confident

Mar 08, 2025, 16:50

France playing the beautiful game…great stuff. And Du Pont is gone…what a shame.

Mar 08, 2025, 16:59

Pity I can't watch. We're in our 4th power outage of the day. 2 Load shedding and now the second unscheduled one.

Mar 08, 2025, 17:13

My power also out...watching on the phone...France playing well

...Ireland beeing Ireland....I enjoyed the first half.

Mar 08, 2025, 17:21

Sorry to hear that Pakie….I guess they aren’t going to build any AI data centers down in RSA. I thought this issue has been somewhat sorted.

Mar 08, 2025, 17:26

It's been better but too many of our power stations are as old as the hills, Moz. And Eskom of course utterly corrupt. Sometime or another more shit will hit the fan again.

Mar 08, 2025, 17:35

The unbalanced bench comes back to bite France…..

Mar 08, 2025, 17:38

The Irish tackler has mitigation….how the hell was that less red worthy than NZ in the WC final

Mar 08, 2025, 17:40

Biarey scores a brilliant try…to go along with the best pass ever 2 weeks ago.

Mar 08, 2025, 17:48

France rampant…great forward try

Mar 08, 2025, 17:53

Prendergast is bog ordinary and again he wastes ball. Lack of pace the commentator says….agreed this has to be the slowest backline in the top 5.

Mar 08, 2025, 18:06

Hahaha France all the way ….90 meters Penaud

Mar 08, 2025, 18:09

How did we lose to this Irish team….Biarrey is the MOM, enjoyable player to watch in the Arendse mode

Mar 08, 2025, 20:58

This Irish team is Sextonless... Pretendergast is a poor man's Johnny....

They are certainly no longer looking like the world beaters that were contenders for the last world cup.

Mar 08, 2025, 22:07

It is not unexpected that Ireland lost.

The hype has caught up with them.

Their run at the top was never sustainable.

Mar 09, 2025, 05:34

Ireland is not the team they used to be.......their quality of play has gone down.

Mar 09, 2025, 07:11

Even Crowly was better than Pretendergast.

Mar 09, 2025, 10:22

So glad to see Ireland getting stuffed like this. It is scary to see how well France played with a 7-1. I think it was a blessing that Dupont got injured as it forced them to play differently. France is probably one of the few teams that can compete with SA on quality forwards.

However, their backline has unreal skills. You put that game plan together and it shows what a team like France can do with proper forward dominance.

I also think the Irish screen play or dummy runners have been countered with really great smart reading of how to defend against it. The French tackling was top drawer and they really hit them hard.

So glad France is not a consistent team. Let's see how we do against them at the end of the year

Mar 09, 2025, 12:07

Congrats France a dominant performance. Ireland needs to regroup, but I am sure they will be back.

I thought Prendergast kicked well for point’s but lacked in game management…..

overall I think he is Not this total lost cause, as most on here are thinking.

The Boks will be in deep waters if we don’t perform at our best version, to crack these Frenchies.

Erasmus needs to identity the right players to still join the fray, together with the older Core that will definitely be at WC 27.

It’s going to be a entertaining 25 season, that’s for sure.

Mar 09, 2025, 15:15

The dude who sang the anthems fired up the Frogs...they should give him a medal!

Mar 09, 2025, 16:32

Mpwer

Ireland is suffering from the same problems facing the UK Unions - not enough top class candidates are available

That being the case the Irish playing clubs otten put foreign players to cotract them for those clubs. Aome of the younger players became Irish Citizens and quy to play for Ireland .

Two of the Ireland qualifyomg that way to pla for Ireland - namely Aki (a rather so-so as center) and Lowe (a top classle Wing). The same happend in all Six Nations countries

What I am driving at is that countries have problem abd may lose form there os a lack of replacement cadidates.

Mar 10, 2025, 16:23

Big mistake by Ireland to have Farrell not being their coach this 6N while he concentrates on the Lions - he could have done that while continuing with the Irish side

They are also a little lost without Sexton pulling the strings

Furlong at 3 is also a big loss.

Lowe on the day was also a big loss

Pendergast has his moments - good distributor but should refrain from trying to attack himself - very pedestrian with ball in hand

They are not the polished side they were last year and the year before - they lack depth - a few players missing and they lose their clout

Mar 10, 2025, 17:30

I disagree. More than any other top international side, Ireland are more reliant on their systems and their game plan than they are on individuals.

I also don't think Lowe is as good as many think he is and I don't think Crowley or Prendergast are as bad as many say they are,

The only Irish individual player who makes a real difference to their performance is Dan Sheehan who is always brilliant. Caelan Doris is another quality player but not that much better than Jack Conan, Josh van der Vlier or Peter O'Mahoney.

Mar 10, 2025, 17:56

Agreed Rooi but Sexton definitely was their director with reference to implementing that system and the fact that they have not settled on his replacement speaks volumes

Disagree on Lowe he is a fantastic player - always involved and makes things happen

Finley as the replacement tighthead is a big step down from Furlong

Mar 10, 2025, 22:49

I actually like Jack Crowley...got some grit...Pretendergast will get much better with experience...he's still a puppy...the French wire "in their zone " almost impossible to beat them when the pitch up like they did on Saturday.

Mar 10, 2025, 23:01

Crowley started well but has lost traction.

Pendergast definitely has something about him - he does make good distribution choices and executions - not blessed with athleticism so is never going to rip defences apart but that’s not the job of a 10 - it’s a bonus if they do like Sacha, Marcus, Beauden etc
