In a thrilling showcase of school rugby prowess, Hoërskool Garsfontein clinched their third consecutive Noordvaal Cup, leaving a trail of dust in the rugby fields of South Africa. Meanwhile, down in Cape Town, Rondebosch and Wynberg were notching victories to keep their fans on the edge of their seats.

It was a day of high drama and slick moves at the final where Garsfontein faced off against Helpmekaar Kollege from Johannesburg. The Pretoria-based team, affectionately known as Garsies, overcame a first-half deficit to triumph with a score of 30-19. This victory didn't just add another trophy to their cabinet; it etched their name in the history books as the first team in this millennium to win three consecutive titles in the Noordvaal Cup, a feat achieved by only four other schools in the tournament’s 105-year history.

The Garsies' victory was spearheaded by their formidable back three, with winger Junaide Stuart crossing the line twice to contribute significantly to the scoreboard.

"The boys showed great character to come back from behind. This victory is a testament to their hard work and the ethos of our team,"

commented an elated Garsfontein coach after the match.

Over in the southern suburbs of Cape Town, the rugby action was equally intense. Rondebosch Boys’ High School squared off against their traditional rivals, Bishops, and came out on top with a 28-22 win at Piley Rees Field. Aluthi Wesi, the dynamic outside centre who has also impressed at No 8 this season, was pivotal in the victory, dotting down twice. This win marked a season double over Bishops, having previously dominated them 28-7 earlier in the year.

Not to be outdone, Wynberg Boys’ High School also left their mark by thrashing SACS with a resounding 41-10 victory. Morné Noble, the scrumhalf, and fullback Laeeq Davids each scored a pair of tries, proving too much for SACS to handle. This victory reaffirmed Wynberg's superiority, having defeated SACS earlier in the season as well.

As the dust settles on another exhilarating weekend of school rugby, these teams not only celebrated their victories but also the spirit of competition that brings out the best in players and fans alike.
