With immediate effect

Warren Gatland has resigned as the head coach of the Wales rugby team. His departure comes amid a record-breaking 14-match losing streak, which has seen Wales fall to 12th in the world rankings their lowest position ever. The decision was made by mutual consent between Gatland and the Welsh

The WRU is expected to announce an interim coach to lead the team for the remainder of the Sex Nations tournament. Potential long-term replacements being considered include Michael Cheika, Franco Smith, and Simon Easterby.

I saw they were having a meeting. That’s come as no surprise to anyone, has it ?

Feb 11, 2025, 15:06

No surprise really

Should have happened a long time ago

Feb 11, 2025, 15:08

Yeah I guess but the reality is he has very little to work with - they have now dropped to 12 below Georgia

This is really sad for rugby in general

Which coach is going to be brave enough to take the job? The likes of Franco Smit could be committing suicide if Wales is their first test coaching gig

Give the job to Jake White:)

Feb 11, 2025, 15:10

If it keeps him away from the England job, yes, give it to Jake White !!

Borthwick lives on after your win against France

Shocking Welsh talent pool…unlike other NH nations they don’t have a lifeline of immigrant talent and the Welsh boys seem to have lost interest.

Feb 11, 2025, 15:36

Excuse me ! We don’t have a massive immigrant pool, as you like to call it ! You’re thinking of Scotland and Ireland ;)

Feb 11, 2025, 15:44

I’m guessing that when you have a small pool of players to choose from, you are far more susceptible to having some lean years just not this lean.

The Welsh, Scottish and Irish usually have a good enough core of players but lack player depth. At the moment the Welsh don’t even have that core

The Irish have a great feeder system and they are good at retaining their talent at home. Their clubs are strong, fed by academies, who in turn are fed by some really good schools like St Michael’s and Blackrock

Saffolk, what is the "Sex Nations"?

You're showing more signs of sex deprivation mate.

Do i need to send mum over to give you a hand?

‘’Excuse me ! We don’t have a massive immigrant pool, as you like to call it ! You’re thinking of Scotland and Ireland ;) “

And France Becs. As for you chaps perhaps a few more Vunipolas would help.

The Boks are the real deal, biltiong and nothing but biltong,

Two things didn't come as a surprise in this thread: Gatland walking, and Dave making a Freudian slip again.

Feb 11, 2025, 16:15

In Dave’s case it would be Freudian if it was ‘Six Portions”

Feb 11, 2025, 16:15

Ha ha ha ! He’s obsessed by sex, Pakie. What more can you say ?!

No more Vunipolas for us, Mozart. We are fairly English at the moment :)

Feb 11, 2025, 16:19

Chip - sex is sex bud

Feb 11, 2025, 16:32

OMG this thread!

Feb 11, 2025, 17:03

Lol, we keep you entertained Ed

Feb 11, 2025, 17:27

Dave

What ave you go against Wales by mentioniing Jake Wiite as a potential coach?,

Feb 11, 2025, 21:25

Mike - anything to get him away from the Bulls

Feb 11, 2025, 22:49

Great response.- LOL

Feb 12, 2025, 00:13

Jake dominates the Stormers…only a great coach like Jake would have known Blometjies was going to blow the last kick. And he didn’t even have to do it against 14 men.

Feb 12, 2025, 00:38

Joke White is done - he has been shit all season

Feb 12, 2025, 01:09

Glad to see Gatland gone, now just need to see the back of Jake and Eddie Moans.

I believe Wales need to rebuild from the ground and really get control over their club and URC rugby. They need to bring an outsider in that can be objective and bring the best of Wales together.

Real sad to see how far they slipped. They’ve had some great World Cup success. The. Again, they can also be awful.

I would invest in their age group get success there, then reduce their URC teams to 3. Finally put their local arguments to bed as they have never been able to work with franchises. I would go back and create a semi club comp for Ameteurs to allow them to still build their grass roots. Players on the edge can stay in the game and work their way back.

They need to sort out their player contracts and it is really hurting them.

lots work ahead for them

Winning matches and not winning any trophies because of opposition niaa kick at goal goal kicks is not a reflection of good coaching,

The problem in the case of the Bulls is that Johann Rupert and Montsepe gaave the Bulls a massive amoun for recruing of playes and the fact is that in some ways White made strange choices and niow hhave an ovesuplly in cain positions m some positions ands critical deficiencies in critical positions like for insatnce flyhalfs,
