In the heart of Cape Town, Springboks sensation Handre Pollard and his wife, Marise, have just added a sweet new player to their team. Welcoming their daughter, Isabella Tanya Pollard, into the world, the couple shared their joy with a touching social media post: “And just like that, our world has changed again. Isabella Tanya Pollard, you are so loved.” This follows their first child, Hunter, born just last year, marking another milestone for the family.

As they celebrate this personal victory, Handre, a pivotal figure for the Springboks and the Bulls, has also been making significant strides on the rugby field. After a stint with Leicester Tigers in the PREM Rugby league, Pollard has returned to his roots, rejoining the Bulls for the current United Rugby Championship season. It’s a homecoming for Pollard, who began his professional journey with the Bulls back in 2014 before venturing abroad.

The couple’s announcement earlier in the year hinted at the excitement brewing in their household:

“Our little family is growing. Hunter is going to be a big brother in October, and we are beyond excited. God is so good.”

The Mediclinic Louis Leipoldt, where Isabella was born, shares in their joy, celebrating the birth as a full-circle moment for Marise, who was also born there 30 years ago.

Amid these personal celebrations, Pollard’s professional life is also flourishing. He has been named in the Springboks’ 36-member squad for the upcoming end-of-year European tour, another testament to his indispensable role in the team. The tour will kick off with a game against Japan at the iconic Wembley Stadium, followed by matches against France, Italy, Ireland, and Wales on consecutive Saturdays.

As Pollard raises the pink flag at Mediclinic Louis Leipoldt, symbolizing his new role as a father of two, his eyes are also set on the upcoming challenges with the Springboks. It’s a balancing act of personal joy and professional commitments for Pollard, who continues to be a lynchpin for both his family and his team.

Springboks upcoming matches: Japan, France, Italy, Ireland, Wales.
