No they must fuck off as must Plumtree and Dobson
No they must fuck off as must Plumtree and Dobson
" The problem with South African teams is pretty much well known and acknowledged by now. They lack depth compared to wealthier North Hemisphere teams. They just don't have the resources to compete on a two front war that is the URC and Champions Cup. "
This is very accurate on the situation in South African Franchise Rugby.
Plumtree, Jake and Dobson is not bad coaches, but have quite a few challenges to overcome.
If the Stormers keep on losing or the Bulls, then yes Changes must happen. Maybe not necessarily ready to go fetch the Baboon behind the mountain.
Besides most of These coaches have contracts and cannot just be told to fuck off.
The longer we are part of these Comps, the better it will go with our franchises.
This past weekend we had 2 good wins atleast.
Also a lot of good talent is performing above average and that is good for SA Rugby overall.
So they should Dave
Eddie Jones destroyed us and then went on to do the same, only in a shorter timespan, with Australia.
He shouldn’t be anywhere near a Rugby pitch nor should ITV have appointed him as one of the experts commentating on the Six Nations. It’s a joke.
But Eddie Jones has the best England record since way back
I don’t care.
He was lucky he inherited decent players when he took over. Then he just made a hash of things and left us in a terrible mess.
Mpower you are speaking kak - the SA sides other than Lions have more squad depth than the majority of the NH sides bar Leinster and some French clubs
The Bulls have plenty of depth in:
Willie, Devon Williams, Sergel Petersen, Jacobs, de Klerk, Arendse, Moodie, Gans, David Kriel, Vorster, Goosen, Chamberlain, Jaco vd Walt, Papier, Zak Burger, vd Linde , Steenkamp, Thakweni, Matanzima, Wilco, Klopper, Mornay Smith, Grobelaar, Aker, Joe v Zyl, Ruan Vermaak, Nortje, Cobus Wiese, JF v Heerden, Manjezi, vd Walt, Elrigh Louw, Ludwig, Gumede, Hanekom, Marcel Coetzee, Kirsten, Xaba and Carr
Same depth applies at the Sharks and Stormers
Not caring does not change the fact that his record is better than any of the English coaches that have coached England
He is a prick for sure but his record with England tells a story
The stormers definitely doesn’t have the depth that the bulls have.
And in general we are not even close to the resources, money wise and player’s, that the Northern Hemisphere have and can buy if they want more players.
I did not write that, Stav did. But I agree.
Mpower that is simply not true - there definitely seems to be money about given how many of our top players have returned
Stormers squad:
Gelant, Blommetjies, Loader, Senatla, Davids, Zas, Hartzenberg, Nel, Similane, Dan du Plessis, JL du Plessis, Roche, Sherwood, Boulle, Willemse, Sacha, Libbok, Matthee, Jantjies, de Wet, Ungere, Kitshoff, Sithole, Vermaak, Malherbe, Fouche, Sandi, Dweba, AH Venter, JJ Kotze, Moerat, Ruben v Heerden, JD Schickerling, Andre Smith, Connor Evans, Fourie, Theunissen, BJ Dixon, Engelbrecht, Roos, Morabe

We've had this conversation a couple times about how good coaches are and whether they still coach even though they have had great success in the past.
I remember seeing Bob Dwyer in the stands many years ago and it wasn't long ago that he actually won the rugby World Cup for Australia, but things soon started to unravel and he then gave up on coaching. He is probably one of their top coaches of all times. But he realised when time was up and that his coaching style were becoming out dated.
We have 3 coaches today that had some success in Gatland, Jones and White. Two are still on the international scene and Jake is hanging in there.
All of them are now in their 60s. Gatlands return to Wales has been a complete disaster thus far. Jones managed to redeem himself and turned England into the number one team. Things started to fall apart after the 2019 world cup. He kept pushing players even harder and the results started hit him. He then jumped ship to Australia and that was another disaster in the making. What was poor of him was that he promised that he would turn Australia around but not even being 3 months into his new job already made a deal with Japan.
Gatland had great success with Wales and led to a semi and quarter final. Both times being knocked out by SA. He was also the coach of the Lions team and got some success against New Zealand which is probably his greatest achievement. However, it was no the same against the boks.
He left Wales and decided to coach the chiefs where they lost all 13 games under him in the super rugby.
He returned back to Wales but is yet to make a difference.
Jake became a journeyman and was able to apply structure to struggling teams and ensured they got into the top 4, but for some reason he always falls out with administrators, players and fans. He is now in his 4th season at the bulls and have not set the world alight.
My question, should these coaches still be coaching or are they better to serve as a Director of rugby or just be at a union where they can impart their knowledge on to other coaches.
I think it is time for them to hang up their clip board and give other coaches a crack.
