Jake White is tipping his hat to Rassie Erasmus and his coaching crew for instilling a fearless belief in the Springboks' youthful ensemble. Post a humbling defeat to the All Blacks at Eden Park, Erasmus's gamble on fresh legs has paid off with the team notching a staggering 110 points across two matches — including a record-smashing 43-10 victory over the hosts in Wellington and a 67-30 thrashing of Argentina in Durban.

This Saturday, this same squad is slated to lock horns with Los Pumas at Twickenham for the Rugby Championship crown. In his column for RugbyPass, White, the strategist behind the 2007 World Cup victory, couldn't help but draw analogies to the Ryder Cup's recent tactical masterclass by European captain Luke Donald before heaping praise on Erasmus.

"Often the management don’t get the praise they deserve and with that in mind, maybe it’s time to doff the cap to Rassie and his coaches,”

White emphasized. He credited not only the players for their dazzling performance in Wellington but also highlighted the coaches' role in empowering this talented group to play with unbridled confidence. In his view, fostering such a mindset is akin to discovering the coaching 'secret sauce.' While the youthful vigor has been pivotal, White reminded fans that the seasoned players are far from obsolete, ready to step out from the shadows when called upon.

White also spotlighted attack coach Tony Brown, whose influence seems to have injected a more daring and spontaneous style of play into the Springboks' strategy — a delightful shift from their previously criticized 'boring' tactics during the 2021 British & Irish Lions tour.

"There’s no doubt that the way Brown played and coached with Japan is rubbing off on the Springboks. It is a more romanticised way of playing with flair, wit and spontaneity, but isn’t it wonderful when it all comes together and you can win trophies?”

White remarked, appreciating the evolving game plan that has the Boks eyeing back-to-back southern hemisphere titles. As the team gears up for their next big challenge, it's clear that the blend of youthful exuberance and experienced sagacity under a visionary coaching panel has the Springboks poised for greatness, turning heads and silencing critics with every ruck and maul.
