He beat Sergeal, perhaps not the toughest ask. But I like his handling. The only slight negative is Wilco seemed to chasing him down down the right touchline.
He beat Sergeal, perhaps not the toughest ask. But I like his handling. The only slight negative is Wilco seemed to chasing him down down the right touchline.
Quan Horn has outperformed him though. And is a natural 13 in my book.
...has real pace, great hands and a big boot.
Watch the Lions game, Dave.
He won the Lions the game from 15.
Jurenzo needs to put in performances like that before I'd consider him a starting Bok.
Horn was very good but Jurenzo is far bettter and Horn is far too small for 13
Jurenzo has made an impact in every game he has played it’s why I’m such a huge fan
Id take Jurenzo starting at 13 for the Boks with his hands tied behind his back ahead of Jessie - that’s how good he is
Moz Wilco could not even catch you
Dave, you saying a player is good...doesn't mean he's good.
It just means you think he's good.
Hooker is far more ready for higher honours than Jurenzo.
Jurenzo is special - has far far more ammunition than Hooker
He is another Sacha or Willemse - pure class
Hooker is another de Allende, Jessie or Esterhuizen - great players
I have to disagree with you on Hooker. He has some serious gas and faster than Jurenzo. He can cover wintz 13 and 12. His work rate is off the chart and has a massive engine.
Jurenzo is a pure 13 and unlike what I'm seeing. I think our future bok combo is Hooker at 12 and Jurenzo at 13. Plum should let these kids play.
Am was a shadow if himself yesterday. Playing at 12 and not nearly as effective.
I would put Am on the bench for another 4 weeks and just let the two kids do their thing in the midfield.
I like to see am and Esterhuizen combo back but they either have been injured or lost form.
As for centres, we are really spoiled. Kriel, Hooker, Henco, Jurenzo, Moodie. Then Sasha can cover 12.
I just wish we could get them all on the field or at least in the same game. Then Hendrikse is getting steadily better.
Grant Williams had a quiet game though.
9 Williams sub Hendrikse
10 Sasha sub Hendrikse
11 Kriel
12 Hooker
13 Jurenzo / Henco
14 Moodie
15 Horn
Then we still have the incumbent such as Fassi, Arendse, Willemse etc.
I wish they would put an A team together so we can get the next gen bok players to go on tour together and build a team spirit like we have in the 2019/23 boks
Then Jan Hendrik did great at Loosehead yesterday. Ethan Beater at 2 for the Sharks looks great. Then we have Venter, Horn, HANNEKOM to name a few in the pack.
It would be an awesome
Don’t get me wrong Hooker looks really good I like him - he looks a great prospect
Does he have X factor - no he does not, just like a Henco v Wyk
What equates to X factor - it’s that ability to be ahead of the game, that rugby IQ/software, being in the right place at the right time - reading play, great hands,’a subtle drift off the ball to get into space, an attacking weapon like Jurenzo with his explosive pace off the mark - which he used to beat Sergel Petersen
Hooker looks like he could be a great player, Jurenzo looks like he could be a special player - like Sacha and Willemse
I like Jurenzo, but I like AE at 12 and Hooker at 13 more.
Jurenzo might grow into it and turn out to be better, but as it stands I think Hooker and Horn are bother better 13s.
Let the kids play indeed, but when they start looking like the circus the Stormers delivered yesterday, then I need a few adults in the team.
If I were a coach, Hooker would seem a more solid prospect. He's got a super hard edge and can be solid in both defensive and attacking game plans. Jurenzo doesn't quite offer the same defensive value. So you'll end up hoping that the extra 5% he offers on attack is worth more than the defensive delta between him and Hooker.
That is laughable, you clearly have not seen much of Jurenzo this season
Horn at 13, that is simply never going to happen
Jurenzo is going to be a test star
Yesterday was the first Sharks game I didn't watch this season...or rather, only watched half of.
Jurenzo does not have explosive pace.
Pace is simply not something he possesses.
He has slightly above average acceleration for a back but that it's. He has zero pace.
Three random backs from Toulouse were all faster ah him. In the current Boks, Manie, Sacha, Willemse, Arendse, Kolbe, Mapimpi, Williams are all quicker.
He has hands, some fight and a step. That's about as much as I see in him for now. Hooker has size, actual pace, hands, defence and grunt.
At 13 for the Boks, this is my tier list.
Hooker > Willemse > Moodie > Horn > maybe Jurenzo
That ignorance is not worth my time
Jurenzo has been phenomenal.
His explosive speed and stepping off the mark is amazing.
it’s no wonder why Ras and Co called him up. I have no doubt that he’ll be given his first Bok cap this year.
I like tht center playing for the Lions by the name of Van Wyk a lot too,
I hope that, when given a chance, Jurenzo does make the best of it.
He looks like a good player, but I'll reserve judgement until he's properly tested.
What you guys are also missing is that Rassie has put lots of investment into Moodie. And Moodie has passed the test every time he's played for the Boks.
To leapfrog that, a player needs to be doing what Fassi and Hannekom are doing at the moment and stick out like a sore thumb of excellence. Jurenzo is not doing that. Not yet anyway. There are flashes and there's absolutely nothing wrong with his trajectory thus far, but let's not pretend he's in the stratosphere...yet. Hooker, followed by Quan Horn, are closer to being as impactful as Fassi and Hannekom than Jurenzo is.
And that is factual. Watch the games and look at their impact.
I didn't watch the Sharks game against the Bulls...who was more impactful? Hooker or Jurenzo? I know that Hooker has been more impactful in every Sharks game that I have watched...so I have no reason to believe that trend was broken this past weekend.
Enlighten me...
Edit: watched the highlights...Nice setups from Julius. He does have great hands.
In the End we will see how they perform on the big stage….Henco and Julius are very close, each with good skills.
But as good as they are that hard test edge, like Jessica have, will only come with game time…..
It will be a positive step forward to start either Henco or Julius together with a AE or DDA .
Then only can a person judge if any of them have what it takes.
Let’s be Honest SFM is a exception to the rule.
Besides his great Rugby Skills, he just oozes BMT and mostly the reason why he walked straight into the starting team.
Lets see if Rassie sees Henco or Julius in the same light to start them straight away.
There is a reason Chip had said Jurenzo has been phenomenal this season for he has been just that.
If you have missed his attacking creativity through explosive pace off the mark, ghosting defenders then you frankly don’t know anything about rugby
There is a reason Jurenzo is starting at 13 with the likes of Am moving to 12 and Hooker being relegated to wing - Jurenzo is that good.
Jurenzo has shown classy touches in every game he has played this season starting by scoring 4 tries for the Baby Boks in a serial underperforming side.
He has been more impactful than Hooker purely because of his ability to attack space. It’s far more eye catching than the direct route Hooker employs
Hooker like v Wyk look like they could be great players like Esterhuizen, Jessie and de Allende
Jurenzo has class written all over him - he is special - he is up there with Sacha, Willemse and Am at his best
Right now Jurenzo walks the future Bok 13 spot with his eyes closed it’s not even close for me. The next best prospect at 13 is Moodie followed by v Wyk then Hooker, who is a better 12 prospect who can play 13.
As for Horn he does not feature at all in the 13 equation as we will never see him employed there given his 84kg size. I like him, I’d consider him as a Bok wing in the mould of Arendse and Kolbe along with Tyrone Green who I’m sure Rassie is going to ignore and England will cap when he becomes eligible shortly
Jurenzo is going to be a Bok great - that’s how good he is - he is pure magic and class. Give him
a hint of space and he’s ghosted you - hence his nickname - The Boogieman
He excites me as much maybe even more than Sacha - that’s how much those little moments of magic he has produced have impressed me
I want to see a Bok backline of 15. Fassi 14. Kolbe 13. Jurenzo 12. Willemse 11. Arendse 10. Sacha 9. Williams with the likes of Jordan Hendrikse, Jayden Hendrikse, vd Bergh, Nohamba, Libbok, Hooker, David Kriel, Moodie, v Wyk, Horn and Green as back ups
A full Backline of hot Steppers, what could possibly go wrong? Defence?
Are you saying Willemse, Jurenzo and Sacha can’t defend? How stupid
Id back Willemse defensively over most players and Jurenzo has already shown some quality defensive reads not to mention the odd big hit
I have absolutely no doubt that these guys would be no better or worse defensively than de Allende, Kriel or Am
Dave, we get it, you love him.
Though, showing the odd classy touch doesn't a Bok make.
You're talking as if he's the greatest ever thing to happen to Bok rugby.
...but as you are saying that there are guys in his position, and part-timers to 13, that are performing better.
Fact over fantasy. That's all we ask.
Bullshit is anyone out performing him at 13 right now - not even close
He is next level and no it’s not because of the odd touch - if you had actually watched every game he has played this season you would know what I’m talking about
But let’s see what happens - time will tell but for me he looks the best 13 prospect I have seen in ages but it’s prospect not the finished deal
I know a good player when I see one and I know without doubt Jurenzo has more attacking ammunition than Hooker or Henco v Wyk who are more physical reliant and direct than the space attacking ability of Julius
Time will tell
"He is next level and no it’s not because of the odd touch - if you had actually watched every game he has played this season you would know what I’m talking about"
I did, there are match threads to prove it.
Have a look at those threads and see how often his name appears. Not just mentioned by me, but by anyone.
How many MOTM awards has he bagged this season? How many tries? How many assists?
Those are the numbers that matter.
You have that much conviction then do some research and show us the numbers.
Bullshit is it about try assists and tries scores of which he has bagged a good few
Its about what he brings to the plate when he has ball in hand - there is an expectation, very few players have that - Sacha, Willemse, Kolbe, Arendse, du Pont, Marcus Smith - Jurenzo is in the same category
He has been unreal - I keep expecting him to just have a solid game, but game after game whenever he gets a sniff he creates something, if it’s a break through that explosive take off it’s always complimented with a great touch with those hands
Does all of the above result in a try assist or try by himself - of course not
Remember Stepfontein and JJ Englebrecht
Yeah and you think Mostert is great and PSDT is shit - case closed
No I think Mostert is a huge contributor and Dud Toit is overrated.
Well there you go - as I said case closed
Actually with no sport Monday I’m watching Boks vs ABs at Ellis Park 2024. It’s minute 54, the ABs are in the lead by 10 points….Beaden Barrett stupidly kicks directly to touch from his 22. The lineout comes back inside the AB 22….the throw goes to an unchallenged Dud Toit who drops it and the ABs break out.
Not once do the commentators mention Dud Toit’s name in regard to the blunder….the myth has to be preserved.
Lots of process tackling, toothless running, unreliable lineout play and no offloading.
Minute 6o on the AB line …the ABs throw to Dud’s direct opponent, no challenge from Dud Toit. Barrett beats Dud’s attempt to charge him. ABs into the 22 They get a penalty in the 22 and don’t go for poles. They would have been 13 points up. Fassi breaks brilliantly out of our 22, turning the game.
Again the Boks throw in 5 metres from the line, unlike Dud Toit, Nortje secures….some toothless Dud Toit running. Next up Kwagga accelerates over. Of course by now Kolisi has been sacrificed for Kwagga, thank heavens!
Yeah Moz PSDT is shit - it’s utter madness that 99% of rugby followers out there think he is one of the best Boks ever and that winning world player of the year twice is testament to how average he is
We get you Moz - your take on PSDT does not embarrass you at all
Interesting test….the ABs had it won at minute 63 if they kicked the penalty which was inside the 22. They went for the corner got turned over in the maul….and then shortly afterwards the Boks dominated a maul at half way with the ABs fast asleep leading to a Bok try.
Sacha and Fassi were fabulous in that last 20 minutes, showing pace and judgement and big match guts.
I report the facts Dave….Dud did nothing that helped us in the last 20. Minutes and lost a crucial lineout.
No Moz your version of the facts when it comes to PSDT are never facts and I certainly don’t recall the details of the test you are watching and nor would that test define him as a player in total
Of course, I just happened to be watching it….but if you can give me a key test where his contribution was anything beyond lot’s of tackling, I’d take a look.
Saffex, I think you underestimate the unbridled hatred that Moffie has for the player he has been slagging off for so many years who applied so much egg to Moffie's stupid fat face by winning World Rugby Player of the Year not just once, but twice!
LMAO!
Gosh a paragraph length sentence, with no comma after ‘year’s’. Change it quickly and then give us the time stamp, so you can pretend you did it without help. Oops that didn’t work last time, did it?
ROFL!
Boom….
I like Henco he is a powerhouse despite not being naturally big but to his credit he has bulked up
He is not a Fourie type of 13, more an Andre Snyman
He looks a good prospect, but he is not Jurenzo Julius who has X factor
I also want to see more of Moodie at 13
We have some awesome potential talent at 13 - Jurenzo, Moodie and Henco - pretty exciting for Bok rugby
We definitely have the talent and in other positions to, like lock for example.
That in mind, why is Nico Janse V Rensburg, Du Preez twins, Jean Kleyn, Trevor, selected but don’t even get to play in B games.
If you pick them, at least give them the common decency to actually let them play…
I’m all for the du Preez twins being included as they are class acts, like Wilco Louw they should never have been omitted from the squad in the first place but they are 29 now so time is running out
As for lock, Rassie has a blind spot - the likes of Mostert, Orie, Kleyn, Janse v Rensburg, Moerat and Nortje should never have made it ahead of Jason Jenkins, Ruben v Heerden, Ruan Vermaak , Andre Smith and JD Schickerling
At least he is including Cobus Wiese and JF v Heerden in the camp
Ruben v Heerden made last years alignment camp and was on standby for last years end of year tour - this year he finds himself in the wilderness - I just don’t get it
How the fuck can he not make a group of 82 that have been invited to the alignment camp recently - same can be said of Ruan Vermaak, Schickerling and the Tsituka brothers
The mind boggles - but instead we see players that have hardly had a game like Bester, Renzo, Nico Steyn and Roche - how the fuck
Be careful Saffolk, soon you will find yourself in DB,s wrath, being labelled as a Hater:)
Its even harder to understand if you take in consideration the success Erasmus had, but still gets away with blatant mistakes.
He has also been lucky in the sense that the Eben,s, Stef,s and Mostert,s, never got badly injured, to put his back up selections under scrutiny.
Just imagine the good those extra caps would do with a Ruben V H, Ruan Vermaak….
Local hard working Rugby Players, that deserve it More than the selected ones.
Rassie definitely has a blind spot when it comes to locks - he seems to think there is merit in having a bunch of lightweights passing off as real locks
It pisses me off - we need new locks in the mould of Eben, Lood and RG - that is Jason Jenkins, Ruben v Heerden and Vermaak - it’s not Nortje and Janse v Rensburg
As for the Tsituka brothers - what more must they do? They must be so pissed off - I would not be surprised to see them or Ruben or Vermaak piss off overseas.
Ruben v Heerden returned to SA as did Jenkins with the hope of making the Bok side - Ruben has more than proved his worth and should have been rewarded. Over 120kg so adds grunt and is so damn good in the line outs
Sorry Dave, but Jurrenzo was completely invisible today and made so many mistakes today. Clearly another cape coloured that can can't play in the wet. He blue a complete 4 on 1 overlap when breaking out with a awful pass. Had it gone to hand, Hooker would have carved them up.
Then, he simply couldn't get the ball away or step around defenders.
The wet weather completely nullified him.
On the other hand, Hooker put in another huge shift.
Julius needs a few years.
Not a chance he gets selected ahead of Henco and others ahead of him right now.
In a game like today's, Henco finds a way to get involved and makes something happen. Whether is a smart counter ruck or turnover or powerful break, he finds a way to make an impact. And it's all about rugby IQ. I'll take a slightly less athletic player with high rugby IQ over a more athletic player with a lower rugby IQ every time.
Henco is outperforming Jurenzo, but Jurenzo is Talented and just because of one game, it will be premature to say he won’t make it or that he is a slow, small Bungler :)
I agree that Henco is ahead, but injury prone.
However, Julius also missed a bunch of tackles
Slowish, smallish bungler?
HaHa Moz….Yes KC he did miss tackles, he must get himself out of this Funk that happened today…
Otherwise he will be on the out when it comes to actual Bok team selection…
Lets hope it’s once off…Henco hopefully can stay injury clean for some time to actually get selected.
Injury is what hindered him from being selected in 24 season for the Boks.
Fuck me there are some serious idiots on this site
So we have Julius being judged based on some offloads not going to hand in wet conditions
You twats are seriously pathetic
The guy has been simply awesome all season and one game where he hardly featured given the conditions and circumstances and suddenly he is slow small and shit
FUCK OFF you pathetic ignorant pricks
Jurenzo Julius is going to be a Bok great
Definitely a magician….yesterday he actually disappeared
As did all the Sharks players for fuck sake
One would swear Am, Masuku, Jayden Hendrikse, Penxe and Hooker set the world alight
Get fucking real
27,755 posts
Fuck me he is a special player
Hardlly got the ball but boy when he does, does he make things happen
Beats defenders with ease and boy those hands
This kid excites me more than any other player on the planet right now
Everytime he gets the ball he makes things hapoen
Has to be a Bok this year - Hooker and Henco impressed as well - we are looking good at centre for the future
