Former Springbok captain Corné Krige has dubbed Rassie Erasmus' squad as the new titans of rugby, echoing the once-dreaded aura of the classic All Blacks. In a display of near-mythical prowess, the two-time consecutive world champions toppled the Six Nations champs France 32-17 in their own backyard—Paris, no less—despite being a man down for the entire second half. The Boks have impressively clinched nine victories out of 11 tests this year, with their eyes now set on Italy, Ireland, and Wales.

"The Boks are like the All Blacks of old who believe they cannot lose these days,"

Krige remarked to Netwerk24. He continued,

"Even on Saturday when they had 14 players on the field in the second half, it never seemed like there was panic in the Boks’ ranks."

Krige noted the overwhelming confidence coursing through the team, an intimidating factor for any opponent convinced they're facing invincible adversaries.

Next in line to challenge the indomitable Springboks are the Italians, fresh off their own surprise victory over the Wallabies, 26-19. Krige, who once captained the Boks to a staggering 101-0 victory against Italy in 1999, has observed a seismic shift in Italian rugby prowess. "It's incredible how much Italian rugby has improved," he acknowledged, attributing much of this advancement to Italy's participation in the Six Nations starting in 2000 and the influx of international talent boosting their ranks. Notably, players like Australian wings Monty Ioane and Louis Lynagh have added much-needed vigor to the Azzurri's lineup.

As the Boks prepare to face Italy next, all eyes will be on whether the Springboks can maintain their formidable form or if the improved Azzurri will give them a run for their money. With the air game set to be a crucial battlefield, this upcoming match promises to be a riveting clash of titans. One thing's for sure, in the world of rugby, no giant is too big to face a challenge.
