As the Exeter Chiefs prepare for their upcoming clash at Kingsholm, Director of Rugby Rob Baxter has issued a rallying call to centre Len Ikitau. After a lengthy recovery from a dislocated shoulder, Ikitau is poised to re-enter the fray, tasked with the challenge of swiftly regaining his top form. Baxter expressed both concern and excitement about integrating Ikitau back into a team that's beginning to recover its depth as several key players return from injuries.

Ikitau, a player of undeniable talent, has been sidelined since a notable victory over Saracens in December. His return this weekend is highly anticipated, not just by the fans but also by Baxter, who regards him as a pivotal figure in the squad. "Len Ikitau is fully fit and in full training," Baxter confirmed. The integration of such a "world-class player" is crucial, especially at this juncture of the season.

"It’ll be fantastic to have him back. The challenge for him is to get back up to speed quickly with limited game-time,"

Baxter added, highlighting the professional ethos Ikitau has exhibited during his rehabilitation: "He’s trained well over the last two weeks, and having him involved is a bonus." The Chiefs are not only welcoming back Ikitau but also Ethan Roots and Immanuel Feyi-Waboso, both of whom have recently overcome their respective injuries.

The squad's increasing robustness comes at a critical time, with the Premiership race heating up. Baxter shared that the team is "starting to thicken out," with players like Josh Iosefa-Scott, Will Goodrick-Clark, and Ben Hammersley hitting full stride in training. However, the Chiefs will have to contend without Jack Yeandle and Olly Woodburn against Gloucester, both of whom are nursing fresh injuries from last weekend’s match against Northampton.

"The prognosis isn’t great for either of them," Baxter said, revealing a more somber tone. For Yeandle, a foot scan was scheduled following significant swelling, and Woodburn’s hamstring issue is being closely monitored.

As the Chiefs gear up for the weekend, their lineup reflects the transient nature of rugby— a test of depth, resilience, and adaptability. The return of Ikitau and others bolsters their campaign at a pivotal moment, weaving new narratives into the fabric of their season. The Exeter Chiefs are not just playing for points; they are crafting a story of comeback, character, and perhaps, a conquest at Kingsholm.
