After a thrilling weekend of international rugby battles, including a notable clash between the Wallabies and the British & Irish Lions, we've drafted our standout Team of the Week. The Lions dominate our selection with nine players, acknowledging their exceptional performance down under. Also making the cut are standout players from South Africa, New Zealand, England, and France, each bringing their A-game to the global stage.

Starting with the backs, England's Joe Carpenter made a splash in his debut, almost scoring and showcasing solid control in a 40-5 thrashing of the USA. On the wings, Edwill van der Merwe of South Africa continued his try-scoring spree, while New Zealand's Will Jordan proved why he's on track to become a top try-scorer for the All Blacks. The midfield saw Sione Tuipulotu shine for the Lions, and Finn Russell's magical distribution was pivotal as he orchestrated the Lions' attack with flair.

In the scrum-half slot, Jamison Gibson-Park of the Lions directed the play brilliantly, his tactical kicking and calm under pressure steering his team to victory.

"His box kicks were on the money and he was such a calming influence,"

praised the coach, underscoring Gibson-Park's performance.

The forward pack was no less impressive. Tom Curry and Tadhg Beirne, both Lions, were monumental, with Curry especially silencing his critics.

"He couldn’t have answered his critics better,"

remarked an observer, reflecting on Curry's red-hot performance that included scoring a try. Tadhg Furlong, another Lion, reminded everyone of his prowess in the tighthead position, proving instrumental in the scrum.

Rounding out the selection, Dan Sheehan's boundless energy earned him a spot after a dynamic performance that helped dismantle the Wallabies, and Ellis Genge dominated his stint on the field, overpowering his opposition in every facet of the game.

This week's lineup not only highlights individual brilliance but also underscores the strategic and physical dominance displayed across various matches, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead in international rugby.
