Get ready for a clash of titans at Ellis Park this Saturday as the Lions gear up to take on the high-flying Sharks. After a bruising 52-17 defeat to the Bulls, the Lions are desperate to prove themselves against a Sharks team that's been devouring opponents left and right. It's set to be a showdown with all the intensity of a Test match, and the Lions are hungry for redemption.

The Lions’ camp has been a hive of activity as they lick their wounds and plot their comeback. Wessel Roux, the Lions' forwards coach, didn't mince his words about their recent performance or the challenge ahead.

"On the day, we were really just not our best selves. There were technical issues and fundamental issues that we’ve discussed and worked on, but in pro rugby sometimes it just happens that you’re not your best self,"

he admitted candidly about their recent thrashing.

Roux knows that the upcoming battle won’t be any easier. The Sharks are arriving in Johannesburg with their forward pack in menacing form, having just secured back-to-back victories against the formidable Stormers. "The Sharks pack is firing quite nicely. They’re brave and creative and were dominant in both games against the Stormers. They’re a world-class pack and a world-class team," Roux praised the opponent's recent performances.

Despite the stern challenge that awaits, Roux is confident that the Lions have addressed their internal issues, particularly around the set piece. "We had 12 lineouts, but lost five of them. It’s a focus for us to get our fundamentals right and to try and get physical dominance because we know the Sharks are a big physical threat." Preparing for this game feels like gearing up for a Test match, he added, underlining the gravity of the encounter.

As the Lions ready themselves to turn the tide against the Sharks, the atmosphere at Ellis Park promises to be electric. This isn’t just another game; it's a chance for the Lions to salvage pride and momentum in a season that's testing their mettle. With both teams set to clash in what could be a defining moment of the season, rugby fans are in for an absolute treat.
