Former Springboks head coach Nick Mallett has zero doubts about the motivation levels of the revamped South African squad as they gear up to face the All Blacks in Wellington this Saturday. With only one win from three Rugby Championship games this season, the pressure is mounting, especially following a recent defeat to New Zealand at Eden Park.

In response to their lackluster performance, current coach Rassie Erasmus has overhauled his starting lineup, sidelining seasoned players like Willie le Roux and Handre Pollard in favor of younger talents such as Aphelele Fassi and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu. Mallett, speaking on the Talking Boks podcast, emphasized the fresh faces bring not just energy but a golden chance to steer the team back to victory. "They’re going to be certainly up for this game. So you don’t have to do too much motivational talking, I don’t think," Mallett said.

"It’s an opportunity for this team in so many ways. First of all, it’s an opportunity to right the ship, to get us back and in with a chance to defend our Rugby Championship title,"

Mallett highlighted the youthful team's potential to shine under pressure, particularly in a challenging environment. The test against the All Blacks is not just a defensive battle but a showcase for the fledgling backline to display their attacking prowess. Moreover, the game presents a crucial moment for halfbacks Cobus Reinach and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu to demonstrate their game management skills.

"All those decisions on nine and ten, they’ve got to make those decisions at the right time," Mallett added. This match could be a pivotal moment, not just for the championship but for these young players' careers.

As the Springboks prepare to take on the formidable All Blacks once again, the stakes couldn't be higher. It's a test of mettle, strategy, and the ability to seize opportunities under the intense scrutiny and high expectations that come with international rugby at this level.
