Moodie is work in progress at 13

We have all been calling for him to be shifted to 13 and to Jake’s credit he has obliged.

But to be fair he is yet to make the impact we were hoping for which emphasises just how hard it is to make an impression at centre these days and equally how hard it is to make the move from wing/fullback to centre. It takes time, just like it does moving from loosehead to tighthead.

We know he is a prodigious talent and we need him to operate at 13. Hopefully Jake continues to invest in him there as Gans will return from injury soon, so might throw a spanner in the works.

He needs to settle at 13, he needs to bulk up a little and needs to learn to art of defensive reads which are integral to being a good 13. Right now, defensively he is being a little exposed

But time is on his side if Jake gives it to him. On the flip side it shows how classy David Kriel is given his quick transition from wing/ fullback to 12 but at 13 you have wider spaces to cover and less cover protection than at 12.

There was someone on here that was ignorant enough to say Moodie was a better 13 than Am right now - I won’t mention any names

Moodie has started 30 Pro games at Wing….68% Right Wing and 5% Left. 7 Pro Games at Centre….17% Outside Centre…besides what the stats say, his on field display in the respective positions, weighs more in the favour of wing….he looks more at ease playing there and creating in the Back 3…..well he might prove me wrong, but for me he is better utilised as a wing. He has already made a good impact there. We have other options like David Kriel , Henco van Wyk and Rickus Pretorius. …the beauty about these 3 is that they are good defenders under the more pressure that playing in the midfield bring. They have a creative skill set to.

It shows how much Rassie knows about rugby. We could all see that Moodie was better on attack than Jessie Kriel. However, Kriel is the better defender - at least in positional play.

We criticised the selection of Kriel - even in the World Cup squad let alone a starter.
Yet Kriel had a good tournament. He was adequate on attack, and very good in defence.

Kriel is a mediocre tackler at best….his contribution was understanding the defensive system and giving his opponent no space.

Moodie is better than Am.

Because I say so.

Apr 22, 2024, 21:57

Apr 22, 2024, 22:56

...proving Rooi and DDA must have met at some point.

I said Moodie is better than Am. Which means he is.

You ignorant prick.

Apr 23, 2024, 18:44

Just so we're clear, ButtPlug, when you say Moodie is better than Am, do you mean as an outside centre or do you mean in the position you think they should play . . . as a loosehead prop?

Hmmm?

Apr 23, 2024, 18:56

I mean, Moodie is a better rugby player, human being, policeman, and cook...

And it is so because I say it's so.

Now stop being an ignorant prick.
