0.40 Wiese knocks on after a good run. First scrum, no Bok pressure.

1.50 Willie fields and kicks….Faf the only pursuer, stepped by Jordan who makes 20 metres. All the other Bok backs are nowhere.

1.59 Frizell waltzes past Lomp, stopped by a terrific Willie tackle.

2.41 Kwagga intercepts…we kick deep, Telea beats the onrushing Mostert

3.12 Jordan regathers Mo’unga’s high kick . Dud Allende misses his tackle.

4.21 Dud Allende lays off Barrett who throws a long pass to Jordan. Willie brings him down but momentum flings him sideways. Jordan was covered by Mapimpi who fixated on shoving Ioane. He gets up and skins Dud Allende….Smith trots over.

9.00 Unclear penalty Mo’unga converts

10.18 Willemse knocks a poor Barrett cross kick…he never took the space, hung back.

11.25 Kitshoff penalized for a down knee, the ABs in control of the scrum

12.15 Mapimpi drops another high kick.

14.15 Multiple AB phases…a chip through is gathered by Barrett.. Ball comes back to Jordan, he finds a gap between Bongi and Malherbe, ball is worked to Frizell who beats  Kolbe and runs over Willie

……….

After this point the rest of the game is even. We lost this match in the first 16 minutes

17.40 Disastrous lineout throw in knocked by Wiese. But a high tackle gives the Boks a chance to put it out near the 22. Ball comes to Dud who runs straight into the first defender

20.20 Ioane pick and goes…Dud Allende actually is alert, makes a good tackle and helps Boks make a turnover. They put together 8 or so phases with good runs by Am and Mostert. Dud Allende is muscled backwards but the Boks have a penalty. Our maul goes nowhere.

25.50 Resultant scrum sees the usual Dud Allende crash ball, Bok go through several phases and finally kick in goal where Kolbe seems to have scored …disallowed on what the commentators call a  50/50 call.

26.30 Dud Allende knocks on the dropout. Scrum, de Klerk snatches the ball and Mostert resets.

27.00 clear AB knock on off high ball

30.00 Lomp misses his lineout ball…Boks lose 20 metres and possession.

32.00 Boks actually gain ascendancy and a scrum penalty….one productive phase and Wiese carries again. Sam Cane snatches the ball from a suspiciously offside position. But Eben lucky not to get a neck role penalty.

33.50 Superb quick lineout feed from Mostert. Lomp fails to place the ball and NZ regains but penalized for not moving off the down ball…Boks get 3 points.

36.00 Smith passes into retreating Malherbe…ABs get 3points.

38.00 Faf fields a Beauden clearance, feeds Willie who feeds Kolbe on the touchline. He is isolated and brought down by 2 ABs…the bal is vulnerable but Mostert gets there and clears out. Saved a turnover, fans just don’t see these contributions.

40 Willemse steps a few tackles (commentators call him Mapimpi for about the third time) …ball now goes to the real Mapimpi who is grabbed around the head…penalty into the corner, but the maul is stopped. Etzebeth over the line, video ref calls it off because of a Lomp neck roll.

40.5 Beauden waltzes around Lomp who is showing the energy of a man unconcerned with the conflict.

41 Once again Willemse is short taking the high ball, NZ recover and find touch 15 metres from the Bokline. ABs maul it up and Jordan takes the resulting ball and carves past Dud and Bongi. Kolbe brings him down to stop the threat.

43 Marx, Snyman  Dud Toit and eventually Vermeulen come on.

44 Faf jumps up to intercept ball….lucky not to get a penalty.

47 Bok scrum splinters the ABs and from the penalty Faf misses touch. Lack of quality kickers hurt us in this game.

49 AB props looking stressed as another scrum goes down,  NZ kick ahead and the Boks have the ball…a decent grubber by Dud Allende well handled by NZ. Dud Toit splattered at the ruck. ‘Great run by Pieter Steph du Toit’ says the commentator a phase later, but he made 2 metres and was brought down by the first tackler…nobody gets more hype.

51 Bok penalty Faf injured and Williams comes on. First maul is stopped but NZ reached with hands on ground leads to another penalty. Great maul sees Marx over. Kolbe lands the conversion.

55 The Boks pass the ball deep in their 22 and affect a fine clearance.

56.30 Dud Toit penalized for falling over the ruck after contesting a few before.

58 Kwagga penalized at the ruck…3 points NZ with a fine Mo’unga kick.

61 Dud Toit takes a lineout ball and offloads well in a resulting phase

62 After a few urgent phases with Snyman making a superb offload, Willie sends a brilliant skip pass to Kolbe who takes off over Mo’unga to score. Kolbe’ s kick hits the post.

63 The score is now 23 to 15, the Boks are in the game and least at parity, probably better. What happened? Two minutes later Dud  Toit is overpowered at the ruck and the Boks have to hold …penalty. The ABs go through a lot of phases.  Papali’i beats Dud Toit and few passes later Barrett finds Jordan with a perfect kick, Mo’unga converts. Game over.

70 Boks regain the ball from the kickoff and Marx puts them on the front foot by actually breaking a tackle. Momentum killed with a turnover. The Boks get the ball back but Libbok gets himself isolated and held up.

74 Thomas the tank blown up for hinging.

76 Mo’unga scores from a scrum on the blindside. Savea picks up the ball at the base and it’s looking like Dud won’t get him. Willemse pinches in, but the ball goes to Mo’unga who beats Willemse on the outside. There were 4 Bok defenders and 2 ABs beat them from a set piece.

78 From the kickoff Caleb Clarke waltzes round Dud Toit as if he was a lock….the Boks get the ball back and Dud Allende tries to tractor, but is stripped by Jordie Barrett. Mo’unga runs into Dud Toit and after one more phase Kwagga picks up a ball outside the ruck, he beats 5 defenders to get the ball down.

80 Kolbe breaks out but has no support runners, ball shuffled into touch.

From what I can read is that the main culprits are those hardly mentioned and those who come up consistently. Looks like PSDT was beaten on several occasions. But don't mistaken pressure for missed tackles. Sometimes the boks get the players to rush, which often result in players getting stepped.

But the team that played on Saturday is definitely no longer fit to where the bok jersey. I was really disappointed in the following players.

Wiese, he had no impact on the game. Dropped balls, missed tackles etc.

Willemse just don't seem to be able to catch or control the game tactically, still does his stupid tap dance when running with the ball.

Lood. he as nowhere. Just didn't show up and shouldn't where the bok jumper when we have Jean Klein and RG Snyman

Mostert, or Tosstert. How many times do we have to call for this guy to go. He has not value other than getting around the park.

Bongi, started the week before and was poor yet again. Marx makes a massive impact on the game. He should be starting. Bongi should not even wear the bok jumper too old and passed it.

Flab Malherbe, everyone keeps going on about him, but our scrums was really poor on Saturday. He always looks out of breath.

Kwagga, not a starter, didn't see him all game until the last 5 min

Vermeulen, got the team to calm down and play better but not so great in open play.

Dud, still has value, but time for AE to be promoted.

Am. 2nd test that he is half asleep, haven't showed his form

Mpimpi, should definitely be dropped, a Rassie favourite, but we have better wingers and Moodie should take his place. Arendse on the bench or rotating with Kolbe

Willie, still our best back when it comes to distribution. He didn't do much wrong, but got exposed a few times. Wonder if Moodie should shift to 15, he is tall and strong enough to deal with the like of Frizzle. Reminds me a lot Isreal Folau

What I'm saying, most of the 2019 boks are past and the ones that are suppose to be the next generation is not performing. Willemse should not be a bok 10, he needs to play in 1 position for a few seasons and be the best, not there on his utility or potential.

Yes game was lost in the first 16 minutes. For the vast majority of the remaining time we were the better side.

Yes indeed Kolbe scored and so did Eben, but for a neck roll. Faf conversion hits the post and Kwaggas try at the end not converted. Add that all up and we win.

Plus biased ref. Plus home ground advantage for wee abs.

But we have loons having meltdowns, blaming the coach for the poor start and silly knock ons, dropped balls etc.

Steph Du Toit was outstanding and the MOZZ bias obvious.

Then he goes on to single out Allende for criticism as always does.  Allende not half as bad as Moz tries to make out.

Faf had a great game. That kick of his for touch was desperately close to being brilliant. His defence was superb and he got stuck in.

Nope the score line was very flattering to the kiwi ballarinas. Nobody can deny that although ou JW would try if he saw my comment.

The fact of the matter is that a very good Bok RWC squad can be picked barring injuries. Our match 22 will be very good.

No more lamentations and nonsense please oaks.

All I know is that the score could have looked a lot worse.

DDA did have a semi-decent game. He was involved in switching the momentum to our advantage a few times.

But outside of that, there wasn't anything that any other 12 couldn't give us. It's clear, his role is as a 4th loosie...and that's a stupid idea.

Libbok and AE would have been a better combination...and they had momentum on their side.

Instead we got ourselves into the weird situation where Faf and Cheslin were kicking for us...and a whole lot of other funny business. Makes zero sense to me and what does it say to the guys that dismantled Australia last week?

The Rassie/Nienaaber thinking is too crescendo based. They want to play our best in the last 30 minutes of only the toughest games. I think they're squeezing that last margin too much.

You know that the margin is being choked dry when you end up subbing the best hooker in the world and his very highly rater colleague on at 3 minutes into the 2nd half.

...was that substitution, given what was very evident from the first half, only going to be made at the 50-minute mark!!!???

If they really only intended playing RG and Marx for the last 30 then the coaches must be living in another dimension. The moment they came on the Boks instantly looked far better. Marx began disrupting immediately and confidence was suddenly renewed.

Why on earth would you waste another 10 minutes?

For me, they need to stop thinking unreasonably risky crescendo terms and get back to starting with their best players as much as possible.

Well said plums. I have been going on about this for the past year or so. I blame quota policy and Raise is happy to throw a few games as long as he doesn't fall foul of the politicians.

Bongi was good, no Ox (Beast) and no Nayakane. 4 years ago they could hold the line and perform well. Help those number etc. But neither or Bongi or dweeb are starters or even worth to be on the bench.

When you miss your line outs, and concede territory then you could have the greatest players on the bench, you will find it very hard to come back.

The All Blacks played smart, they got out of the block really fast and used every tactical nous to get ahead. Try to catch them with 17 points down at home, no chance.

I've always found the Mozcroscope to have a fatal flaw . . . the extremely rose tinted lens renders some of the results meaningless.

One thing the Mozcroscope does pick up in today's edition, is multiple mentions of the most destructive back in world rugby, Will Jordan.

I rate him the most dangerous ball carrier since Christian Cullen.

The missing piece of the puzzle was Handre Pollard, who would have balanced the kicking game. But it’s doubtful we were ready to win this test. The team came out flat from the off and the limited commitment was there throughout.

It took about 5 scrums before we put them under the cosh. It seemed we were happy just to hold the first few.

I can’t remember one really potent counter rucking episode.

Players weren’t streaming across to fill in the defensive gaps, the defense looked very static

And the Mo’unga try should never happen off such a simple move….there was no artifice.

What is encouraging is the impact that Marx had on the game, he added fire and physicality.

Snyman, with so little rugby under his belt, looked impressive and added range to our game.

Kolbe is still a trump card from anywhere and Williams when he came on was not intimidated by the big stage.

As Draad said, all is not lost and some combination of last week’s team and this one has enough talent to be a factor at the WC. It was also good to see the ABs did more kicking than we did and when behind we were capable of putting 20 points on the ABs.

But there are going to be three very well prepared, physically matching opponents in the mix. Ireland, France and NZ are all ready for the WC. I would say the standard will be higher than ever at this WC. It’s a tough ask from here.

After this point the rest of the game is even. We lost this match in the first 16 minutes

The irony.

Many times, a flawed way of thinking was pointed out: once a cause ceases, its consequences are gone as well. This bizarre way of thinking is peddled lavishly and it seems to pervade even in clear cut situations like a game of rugby.

The rest of the game was not even and the match was not lost in the first quarter.

SA rugby are unable to play rugby and were once again exposed.

The game is split in two periods.

First period:NZ played to gain a score advance. They played rugby. SA rugby exposed as unable to defend (which is expected as they can not play rugby)

Second period: NZ ceased to play rugby. This never removed the consequences of the first period, that is the deficit of points accumulated by SA rugby.

For the rest of the game, SA rugby was exposed as unable to even out the encounter as it would require to play attacking rugby (and SA rugby are unable to play rugby)

The EC final happened a few weeks ago and had a similar start, the outcome though was different as both sides are able to play rugby.

The game was lost as SA rugby are unable to play rugby and winning the game would have taken playing rugby.

Another for the road.

SA rugby consider playing rugby wrong.

NZ gains a score lead by playing rugby. Which is wrong;

SA rugby did not even out the game as it would have  taken to play rugby, which would have been wrong.

Two wrongs do not make one right.
