From the hallowed echelons of Springbok legends, Naas Botha has passed the torch with a glowing endorsement of Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, the young prodigy set to redefine the flyhalf position. Commanding the Stormers with newfound authority and wearing the captain’s armband since January, Feinberg-Mngomezulu's influence is skyrocketing. At just 23, he's already dazzling as one of the globe's premier young playmakers, muscling his way past seasoned competitors like Handre Pollard and Manie Libbok to own the No 10 jersey.

The debate over who reigns supreme in the flyhalf realm is one Botha finds pointless.

"Somebody the other day was trying to compare the one with the other one – who’s the better one,"

Botha remarked. "The question I’m trying to raise is why must there always be who’s the better one? It depends on the coach and what he wants for a particular game. If he believes that guy suits what he wants out of that game and if that’s Sacha, then that’s it."

Last year’s international season saw Feinberg-Mngomezulu excelling beyond expectations. His performance in the Rugby Championship was nothing short of historic, netting a hat-trick against Argentina and smashing Percy Montgomery's record with a staggering 37 points in a single Test. The flyhalf's prowess continued through the November tour, with tries against teams like Japan, France, Ireland, and Wales, setting a new record for most tries by a Springbok flyhalf in the process.

His explosive form has not gone unnoticed, earning him nominations for SA Rugby Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year, alongside a nod for the Investec Player of the Year after a sensational Champions Cup pool stage. Botha is nothing but confident in the young star's trajectory.

"I think at the moment Sacha is proving a point, and seriously he’s going to take flyhalf play to a different level,"

said Botha.

Botha’s stance is clear when it comes to keeping Feinberg-Mngomezulu on the field: "What I like is that normally we see guys play two, three, four great games and then suddenly you must take a break. A sportsman plays with confidence – he’s got the confidence. So keep playing him. I feel sorry for the other guys. If they have to sit on the bench a little bit, then you sit on the bench until he starts making mistakes. At the moment, my attitude is let’s appreciate what we see."

With such high praise and monumental achievements already under his belt, Feinberg-Mngomezulu is not just playing rugby; he's setting a new standard for how the game is played at No 10.
