In a daring shuffle of the deck, utility back Nadine Roos is set to dazzle at fullback while Unam Tose takes the reins at scrumhalf for the Springbok Women’s upcoming clash with Italy in York this Sunday. Roos, who already left her mark by scoring the first try in their opener against Brazil, shifts from scrumhalf, making way for some fresh tactics against the Italians.

The Springbok Women's head coach, Swys de Bruin, isn't just rearranging the furniture for fun. Byrhandré Dolf is making a move from fullback to right wing, replacing Maceala Samboya, and Chumisa Qawe steps in at inside centre for Aphiwe Ngwevu, who will be bringing her game off the bench this time around. Speaking of the bench, it’s seeing some action too, with Border Ladies' Eloise Webb coming in for Jakkie Cilliers.

"We have looked at the way they [Italy] play and decided on this squad for this important match. They don’t like to play too much rugby in their own half, often opting to kick for territory, and that is where Nadine’s ability on the counterattack will be crucial,"

said de Bruin. He further commented on the strategic placement of players, noting,

"If you add the abilities of Byrhandré in open play, I think we will be effective in combating that."

The pack that steamrolled Brazil 66-6 remains untouched and will look to replicate their dominant performance. The same goes for the bench power, which remains consistent with their previous game in Northampton.

As the Springbok Women fine-tune their lineup, it’s clear that adaptability and strategic foresight are playing major roles in their World Cup campaign. Will this reshuffled backline be the key to unlocking Italy’s defenses? Only Sunday will tell, but one thing’s for sure: the Springboks are not in York to play a supporting role. They’re here to dominate.
