This has a certain B-team flavour. If our first team only beat Argentina by one point at home, what will happen with this outfit in Argentina?
If Willemse is utility back, it appears Rasnaber has decided that his days at Flyhalf are over
He will be a bench player at the World Cup- but at least he will get game time.
Is Aredense going to play fullback?
The useless Kriel looks like he is going to be on the bench again.
Glad to see Esterhuizen is going to be at 12, to combine with Libock and AM.
Our best midfield is Libock, Esterhuizen, AM.
"Our best midfield is Libock, Esterhuizen, AM."
I knew we'd agree on something at some point VisKop.
1. Kitshoff 2.Bongi 3. Koch 4.Kleyn 5. Lood 6. Fourie 7. Jean Luc 8. Roos 9. Jaden hendrikse 10. Libbok 11. Arendse 12. Esterhuisen 13.Am 14. Moodie 15. Willemse - The starting team can look something like this and Kitzie as Captain. The bench, besides Wiese, Steenkamp and Mostert ,doesn’t really look dangerous….but let’s see what they can do.
Libbok is useless. There's only about three players remaining who are worthy of the jersey.
@ Mpower, Willemse was named as a utility player, so perhaps that means he is not being considered for a starting position.
If that is the case, perhaps Adrense will play at 15.
So we send a clear B team to play in Bargie…so if we lose there is an automatic excuse. If this was the ABs they would be determined to wipe away the stain of today’s pathetic performance. Classic Harrassmiss.
When will Kittshoff get a break. He was struggling against the bargies.
Probably going to be an affirmative action team.
The players I want to see, but not sure we should use this test match to test so many new combos.
Rassie continues to test his players and combinations. By the time he gets to choose the World cup squad he should know exactly who he will select quotas allowing.
Wonder how RG is progressing and why he wasnt in the squad.
Any news about scummie Willemse? Was looking forward to seeing him in action yesterday.
Blistering pace.
Grant Esterhuizen? That's a blast from the past!
FFS Harrassmiss has had the same players in his squad for 5years….he should know them by now!
Erasmus inherited a squad, but cannot build a new team.
King RG is not in the squad
So Lood in for RG with powder puff Mostert on the bench
Willemse will cover at 10
Interesting, so RG is confined to the bomb squad then. If you are going to mix and match, then you probably want to give every player a start.
I wonder if Wiese is going to start and what’s going to happen with Roos?
No it might mean that RG is a certain to start moving forward as the players left at home are the certainties for the WC
Unfortunately Wiese will start with Roos relegated to the bench no doubt
Loose forwards: Jean-Luc du Preez, Evan Roos, Jasper Wiese.
Utility forwards: Deon Fourie, Franco Mostert.
They are only x3 loose forwards. Does that mean they are the starters? if so, who is going to play at 6?
My biggest concern with backrow of Jean-Luc, Roose and Weise are not good at ruck play like ball retention and recovery
Deon Fourie is a good fetcher at least for the Stormers.
Ball retention is about organised cleaners. They are all good enough. As per a fetcher? We can manage if we hit them harder on the gainline, slow their ball down. We really need some more muscle on the gainline.
Nonsense the Boks were outplayed on the desk against Argentina.
Conceded lots of turnovers, slow retention on their own ball and not enough competition on Argnie rucks to slow down their possession.
Vermuelen, Marx and the number 6 should be responsible for getting turnovers, but also ensuring ball retention at the ruck
A fetcher is the equivalent of a special forces unit: he's not the main weapon for every ruck. Ball retention is a team job. That's why we are structured the way we are. When I look at each phase, I note the cleaners by order of precedence and the outcome. With more muscle and intent on the gainline - we haven't dominated any team on the gainline post covid - we will be fine. The front rowers are prominent, but so too the locks. As for turnovers, that's an opportunistic element. Kwagga is our best player for pressuring and disrupting opposition rucks. I haven't watched the game yet, but will look at this element in particular. Thor and Marx were not very effective against the All Blacks, so it doesn't surprise me that the Boks may have been beaten on the deck.
