Hold onto your hats, rugby fans, because Coach Johan Ackermann is shaking things up with the Bulls! Coming off a nail-biter of a win against Connacht, Ackermann has decided to play musical chairs with his starting lineup, making eight changes for the upcoming clash against Glasgow in Scotland. If you thought last week was a rollercoaster, brace yourself for this Friday night’s URC match.

In what could be seen as a strategic masterstroke or a wild gamble, the lineup features a notable reshuffle that sees the return of the towering Bok lock Ruan Nortje, who will not only bolster the second row but also take on the mantle of captaincy. The flanker Marcell Coetzee will also make his way back into the fray, promising to add some serious grunt to the back row.

The scrum is set for a new look with Gerhard Steenekamp, Johan Grobbelaar, and Mornay Smith forming a brand-new front row. Meanwhile, the dynamic Reinhardt Ludwig will transition from five to seven, hopefully bringing his usual flair and a bit more, with JJ Theron and Nama Xaba now warming the bench.

"Ludwig is a born leader,"

Ackermann praised, hinting that big things are expected from the young flanker in his new role.

Changes aren’t confined to the forwards, though. The backline sees the swift Embrose Papier stepping in for Paul de Wet at scrumhalf, while Stravino Jacobs takes over the wing from Canan Moodie, who’s off to answer the call of Springbok duty.

The Bulls have been somewhat formidable on the road, having lost just two of their last seven away games in the URC. Glasgow, on the other hand, has been rock-solid at home, suffering only two defeats since December 2023, both in the URC. This sets the stage for a titanic clash, as both teams have strong recent records to defend.

The historic stats between these two teams tell a story of fierce competition, with the Bulls clinching three wins to Glasgow's two in their five encounters. Most notably, the Bulls secured their solitary victory on Scottish soil last April at Scotstoun, edging out Glasgow 26-19.

BULLS – 15 Willie le Roux, 14 Sebastian de Klerk, 13 David Kriel, 12 Jan Serfontein, 11 Stravino Jacobs, 10 Keagan Johannes, 9 Embrose Papier, 8 Jeandre Rudolph, 7 Reinhardt Ludwig, 6 Marcell Coetzee, 5 Ruan Nortje (c), 4 Cobus Wiese, 3 Mornay Smith, 2 Johan Grobbelaar, 1 Gerhard Steenekamp. Bench: 16 Juann Else, 17 Etienne Janneke, 18 Francois Klopper, 19 JJ Theron, 20 Nama Xaba, 21 Paul de Wet, 22 Stedman Gans, 23 Kurt-Lee Arendse.

With a lineup like this, Friday night’s game is shaping up to be a cracker. Will the Bulls' strategic shuffle pay off against
