In a significant move for English rugby, Oscar Beard has inked a new contract with Harlequins, affirming his dedication to the squad amidst other key player movements in the Premiership. Meanwhile, Regan Grace, after a series of club hops, has secured a short-term engagement with Sale Sharks, signaling his ongoing commitment to rugby union.

Oscar Beard's loyalty to Harlequins is unwavering. Since his first-team debut in the 2020/2021 title season, Beard has notched up 80 appearances. His performance has not only been pivotal for his club but also caught the attention of England's coach, Steve Borthwick, earning Beard a spot on the national team during the summer tour in the Americas. "I am absolutely buzzing to re-sign," Beard expressed.

"All I ever wanted as a youngster was to play here at The Stoop and pull on a Quins jersey – it's a dream come true."

Alongside him, Chandler Cunningham-South and Ben Waghorn have also recommitted to Harlequins, with James Dun from Bristol Bears set to join next season.

Quins' senior coach, Jason Gilmore, praised Beard's team-first attitude, highlighting his growth and importance. "Oscar is a Quins man through and through.

"He's an outstanding centre on both sides of the ball – powerful and reliable in defence, sharp and instinctive in attack,"

Gilmore remarked, pleased with Beard's decision to stay on.

On the other hand, Regan Grace has transitioned from a trial to a permanent fixture at Sale Sharks until February 2026. His rugby journey has been tumultuous since switching from league to union, with stints at Racing 92, Bath, and Cardiff before landing at Sale. His debut against Bath in the PREM Cup was a testament to his resilience and adaptability. Reflecting on his path, Grace shared, "The last few years haven’t been an easy ride for me, and I’ve had plenty of setbacks, but I still love playing rugby. I've worked really hard and now I feel fit, strong, and confident."

Alex Sanderson, Sale's director of rugby, acknowledged Grace's versatile experience and impact. "Regan has got loads of experience. He’s played for Wales, he’s played in Grand Finals and scored loads of tries but since moving to union he hasn’t had a chance to prove his worth," Sanderson said, optimistic about Grace's addition to the team.

The strategic signings of both Beard and Grace underscore a dynamic period in Premiership rugby, promising exciting developments as the season progresses.
