So try and watch the match tomorrow - I know I will,

Dave

Did you watch the match. The ball skills of those kids are amazing and the way theese kids are playing and carryig themselves were watched by 25 000 spectators - ten times as many who watched the individual CC games yeserday.

Please advise us as to which of the Boys on both teams really stood out in an amazing display of schools rugby. .

Aug 03, 2025, 12:02

Dave will be here soon, Mike.

He was indeed watching the game. He is currently writing down the names of 967 players that he spotted on and next to the field, as well as in the same town as where the game was being played, because they are all future Springbok greats.

I think it s reasonable toa ssume that some o the youngsters - even still at school - will end up in Soringbok Jerseys - but there are obstacles as well, Some players showing ball sense and skills loses it if for instance they get mentally disorientated and believe something they never realized must be developed further under proper coaching. An excellent example was Swiel - who thught he had a straight path into the England team.

Another problem I refer to above is that they waiting list for vacancies are long - snce too many players in the rpesent squad is over 30 years or age and may only depart after he 2027 RWC -unless their actua performnces decline rapidly. After having props like Beast - Ox - Malherbe for years helping us tow in 2 RWC's - we now have nothng really good enough to replace them. Oher prositions in rather critical situatio is at full back. - so a bal sense player is needed. We have plenty of wings and outside cners in teh assembly line - but with De Allende getting older and wt Esterhuizen a hopeless center we have to look for inside centers and at least 3 of them to build into future Springboks. Hooker could be one - but one cannot build a squad with some dummies included,

At flyhalfs we have a serious problem and their must be yougses coming through to replace Pollard and Libbok - I just cannot help it - I have no trust in Libbok and for that matter JJ. There are indeed some losies to replace - sooner rather than later and the same applies to locks - some may even be ut off mtrntion by 2027

For school kids to continue toward profesional players takes time - and very few makes it finally into the Spingbok team. I would say no more than 5% of the talented ones really makes it into the Spring bok team. That 5% figure was arrived at by an expert a while ago, For that reason I beieve it necessay to follow the youngsters playing in the Under 20RWC, playing on fanchise level and find the real best of the talented players.that may end up in the Springbok team in following their performances,

Paul Gym vs the Bolshoi?

Aug 05, 2025, 06:33

There's some odd reason why they spell Paarl Boys High ...like that...even in the English press..

https://www.sarugbymag.co.za/boishaai-edge-gimmies-in-thriller/

...and is it really necessary to hassle Maaik at every opportunity?

Aug 05, 2025, 07:02

I like it a lot - I mean Mozart childish humor is something special to behold.

Aug 05, 2025, 08:28

Maaik, you're looking for trouble most of the time...it takes two, nè?

Aug 05, 2025, 09:42

I was just joking - the Official name of the school is Paarl Hoger Seunsskool and the slang word came into use as a result of the nickname based on the English translation of the team name. It just became a joke name used by the people of the Paarl and other areas from where the school boys came.that even finds it way into the media,

There are also other dialects of Afrikaans in use, Try the following as an example:- mainly used by the people in the Namakwaland area:-

"Jan gaan praam die bok - ek wil gat maak"

Easy to understand in real Afrikaans - "Gaan melk die bok, ek will koffie maak" Reason for that is that for centuries people from the area made what tehy call Coffee from the roots of an indigenous to the area plant they called GAT.

The Griquas had also others like a prayer in which they say "Ek kry eintlik skaam oor al die Genade wat ek ontvang".

Charlene Surtees Richards before her film career once on a TV program referred to her time as teacher in Upington. Te children from Steinkopf cme to high school in Upington an said hey had diffiulty tio understandx the children Afrkaans dialect used by them. She gave an example of the children saying to her something that baffled her totally - they were talking about the "meuse in die heuse" which turned out to be the mice in the homes. Apparently that came from the way the Flemish of he 13th century spoke, How it got to Namakwaland nobody knows.

So the above may be a lesson in Afirkaans for the benefit of Mozart.

.

.

Aug 05, 2025, 14:01

Got It, you were speaking 13th century Flemish.

Aug 05, 2025, 14:21

I have never heard that. Praam die Bok ek wil gat maak? Praam to Prime, to prime a water pump… om gat te maak, taking the piss….pulling a prank.

I don’t know how gat (that can also mean your backside or asshole) can relate to drinking coffee??

That must be some fucking old Afrikaans from 1603 or something? So they drank the coffee thru there ass? And Praam die Bok???

That together with ek wil gat maak, it’s more like they wanted to butt fuck the poor goat?? Nasty bliksems from those days.

Sounds to me like typical BS spreading from Uncle Praam Mike:)

Aug 05, 2025, 14:36

Maaik, it's actually Hoër Jongenskool Paarl...probably "Hogere" back in 1868.

Aug 05, 2025, 14:57

Yes watched the game Mike - ignore that boring childish cunt that is Buttplug - the prick does not have a life

Great game of rugby with some real skill on display

Watched Grey Bloem thrash Grey High

That AJ Meyer at lock is a gem

Also watched a bit of Oakdale vs Paul Roos and Affies vs Waterkloof

Aug 05, 2025, 15:01

Ice cream and rugby is a life?

Aug 05, 2025, 15:04

This Afrikaans is called Argaiese Uitdrukkings. In the old Boere days with the Boere War, the people of Namakwaland had very little coffee, tobacco etc.

So they used to make a drink out of Witgatwortel. So they called it gaat not gat. And Praam, was a word used describing milking a cow or goat.

So for once the uncle is not talking Kak Sorry my mistake….definitely bad weather coming, universe is out of sync :)

Aug 05, 2025, 16:40

Very good news is besides the Stormers signing Markus Miller, Lamla Nunu, the Super Impressive Lock Aj Meyer has also been signed!!

Aug 05, 2025, 17:09

Life is being in your mid 50’s not some miserable old fucker that is knocking at deaths door

I take it you have a will and funeral plan in place?

Aug 05, 2025, 21:29

I do….and my grandkids all have investment accounts and their colleges are being paid for. I have had a full life, with activities all over the world. I retired well before you became an ice cream salesman. And when it’s my time I have no regrets.

And today I walked 18 holes in humid weather and hit a bucket of balls after a nice bit of sea bass for lunch.

What have you accomplished in your life fat man….nothing. You are just a nobody with a big mouth.

Aug 05, 2025, 22:04

Ha ha old fart you know fuck all about me

Ice cream salesman am I - fuck me where did you drag that from

Try an ice cream business that has gone through the roof run by a team I oversee from home, hence all the time on my hands these days you dumbfuck

Home being a lovely farm, that I cherish walking around knowing it’s all mine. Livestock for the fun of it, pets not pounds

In the last 12 months I’ve been home to SA, Iceland, Niagra Falls, NY, Vietnam and Portugal - back to SA for Xmas

I get to watch my boys rugby sides play all their home games or take in the delights of my sons French wine bar

So yes old man life is really tough here - I get out of bed at 10am most days and do whatever I fancy for the day which includes golf, I’m still young enough to play the game properly

I’ve just purchased a property and a boat on the Port Alfred marina - a place to follow the sun to when I get to your age, a few doors down from my childhood best mate

Yeah life is so fucking tough being an ice cream salesman

Fuck if only I had done this 20 years ago instead of conforming all those years back. Being a business owner is through the roof rewarding, kudos to my son for taking that route as a 30 year old

You see Moffie I literally have it all and I have a good 20 years on you

Ah yeah and I’m going to The Smashing Pumpkins next Thursday down the road in Colchester then The White Baffalo in London at the end of the month. Not to mention the Boks vs Argies at Twickers in a few months time

Aug 05, 2025, 22:16

What about the family Christmas Party every year family members gave each other Presents.

So come along the exchange on presents and the son-in-law never had a gift for his mother-in-law, When asked hs said to her:-

"I ought you a Xhristmas presnt last year and you did not make use of it - I am not going to give you another gift for you not to use it."

The present he gave his mother-in-law was a grave-site,

Mpower

Thanks

I wonder what they smoked? Probably something related to dagga.

Aug 05, 2025, 22:32

Uncle are you ok?? Ja Dagga is smokeable , but I find the THC oil or a space cake ( Baked with dagga inside the cake…so when you eat it you literally get baked yourself :)

Are you talking about the Namakwaland people?? Yes they definitely smoked da weed and lots of it, especially with not having a lot of tobacco:)

Aug 05, 2025, 22:42

Nothing wrong with smoking a bit of weed or having some dagga cake - love it

I hardly drink - much prefer a joint or even better a dagga chocolate brownie

It’s just such a cool feeling being stoned - all the senses are hightened - taste, sound, sexual

Aug 06, 2025, 02:44

So you have sold ice cream to a few restaurants …and that’s funded a global lifestyle and properties. Hmmm almost credible, except I know a bit about food service, it’s a low margin business. But perhaps I’m missing something, what’s your turnover and profits.

Thanks for the above video postings

Wih regard to the Paul Roos and Oakdale match - it was played on the Oakdale school site just outside of Riversdale on the road between Riversdale and Ladismith. On one of the scenes there is a glimpse of on of the number of wheat silo's in the area - my house is about 500 meter from the silo to the west of the school.

By the way between the silo and my house is a rail line causing much havoc by the dogs in my house every time a train uses the line - could be as often as once a day or even less. Rail services in SA is a total disaster and there are no passenger trains at all - the station in Riversdale is closed and the only passenger trains I have seen is once a year when a holiday train runs for tourists between Cape Town and George. Between George and Knysna is a narrow gaige line which is a real tourist atraction with fantastic mountain, lake and sea views,

" the only passenger trains I have seen is once a year when a holiday train runs for tourists between Cape Town and George. Between George and Knysna is a narrow gaige line which is a real tourist atraction with fantastic mountain, lake and sea views, "

Wow I was Not aware of that. Is it possibly the Blue Train?

Aug 07, 2025, 03:57

Being an open-minded person I have eaten some space cookies myself and Dave is right - it cause a real good smf calming feeling. Since weed was legalized I became aware of the fact that there are more salesmen of weed in Riversdale than there are other busines enterprises - most produce the weeds themselves and some farmers are using their farms profits by enhancing production in areas where other plants cannot be farmed, like in river bedsts cannot or near the mointain ranges to the north of Riversdale, Not that I appove of condone drug usage - but it seems that smoking or using weeds are a majority thing in this backward town and area. LOL
