In a dazzling display of precision, Handre Pollard, the Springboks' ace flyhalf, reminded everyone why he's the top man for the No 10 jersey. Pollard's flawless kicking steered the Springboks to a sweet 30-22 revenge victory over the Wallabies in Cape Town, marking their first triumph in this year's Rugby Championship after a previous stumble at Ellis Park.

The game kicked off with the Springboks quickly grabbing the lead through two Pollard penalties, pushing him past the 800 Test points milestone. Not to be outdone early on, the Wallabies responded with a debutant try by Corey Toole, set up by Nic White's savvy play, briefly edging ahead. But the Boks, not skipping a beat, reclaimed their lead when Canan Moodie seized a cross-kick from Pollard to score.

As the match progressed, Kwagga Smith, a last-minute addition to the starting lineup, bulldozed his way to the try line, helping the Boks to a 20-7 lead. However, James O’Connor's boot cut the lead to 10 points just before halftime. The Wallabies came out firing in the second half, with Max Jorgensen capitalizing on a perfect kick to narrow the gap.

The tension escalated as the Wallabies added another try in the 68th minute, but a crucial missed conversion from O’Connor left the Springboks clinging to a narrow lead. It was Eben Etzebeth, coming off the bench, who ultimately sealed the deal for the Boks with a late try, ensuring a no-bonus-point loss for the Wallabies.

“When the sit is perfect ?????”

Pollard's impeccable performance from the tee was instrumental, as he maintained a 100% kicking success rate, rightfully earning him the Man of the Match title.

The Springboks are now set to take on the All Blacks in a highly anticipated double-header, starting at Eden Park on September 6. The Wallabies, on the other hand, will need to regroup after this setback, reflecting on what might have been if not for those missed opportunities.

“Cool as they come ??”

Despite the loss, the Wallabies showed flashes of brilliance, particularly in their tactical kicking game, which will be crucial in their upcoming fixtures.

The teams clashed with high stakes and higher intensity, setting the stage for an electrifying Rugby Championship season ahead.
