Did anyone sit down for Portugal vs Fiji last night?

What an epic win for the Pork & Cheese.

Tell you what, there are a couple of backs in the Portuguese side that look very skillful.

Fiji tried their best to run over the much smaller Portuguese players but the only ground they ever made was from breaks in open play. Portugal pushed Fiji back from their line many times.

Portugal never tried to move the ball upfield with their forwards at all. They kept swinging it. Over and over. Were it not for the efforts of the Portuguese 7(potentially the most retarded rugby player I've ever seen), they'd have had much more success.

For a minnow side like them, the hands on display was fantastic. Their 9 was clearing quickly and everybody was passing so accurately.

Despite the game being expansive from minute 1 until the final whistle, the knocks by Portugal were on par with much better teams playing far more conservatively.

It makes one wonder why much better teams are so petrified of actually playing rugby.

Shows you too that do called minnow teams add greatly to the RWC.

GREAT EFFORT PORTUGAL.

To think this erratic Fiji or the woeful England will be a World Cup semi-finalist.

Their are clearly two years of rugby at the moment. The top 4, who are professional and have some of the best club players in the planet and tier two with one or two professional players.

That said, the game was thoroughly entertaining and I enjoyed it. It also shows you how poor Australian rugby is, losing to Fiji. Fiji also played some of the dumbest rugby and lost all senses.

I think their should be two tiers at the world cup and teams should play for a cup and a shield. Like they do in sevens.

But don't either team would survive Ireland or New Zealand with our shifting 50 plus points

I thought Fiji had upped a gear when they beat the Aussies, they looked organized and controlled. Well, that illusion didn't last long. Same old lazy erratic Fiji. Their 11 looked like a prop going back to cover during the Porra's first try.

Dont need to up any gear to beat pathetic Aussis.

I was surprised when Porras beat USA in qualifying, even Spain plays some good sevens lately.

Congrats Portugal! Excellent to see a lower ranked team making some ground.
