Kriel…14 made /3 missed…France

….6 made/1 missed…..NZ.
Kriel’s contribution was in structure, not so much in tackling. He isn’t a great tackler but his line speed added pressure.

Kriel is a great defender
Kriel was KO'ed, last year after a poor tackle attempt. He missed a tackle in the previous passage of play that led to a try, and then made a poor tackle attempt and got knocked out on his next tackle attempt.
His positional play is exceptional though. He really understand Rassie's defensive system
Every player misses tackles - defence is a strength of Kriel’s both in execution and instinctively
I do recall him making several very good cover tackles from behind.
I went off Kriel as let’s face it Am showed us the complete package.
But to his credit he had a good WC

One of our better players...I'm also not a fan, but he did well.
Kriel puts on work. He trains like and he's always trying to improve.
He played like a warrior against France so one has to give him credit for that.
But he's not my guy. Took him far too long to get here.
Backs need attacking instinct and an eye for opportunity. Neither Kriel nor DDA possess that in any worthwhile measure.
Moodie is the new king.
Long live the King.
Am is still the king.
Many under rated Kriel and now realize the error of their ways. Group think helped them get Kriel completely wrong. Rassie got it right.
Group think also led some astray regarding Allende who had a very solid RWC. It's an interesting phenomenon how people on the wrong track egg each other on until very fantastical vies prevail in the group. Hahahahahaha.
Kriel was definitely one of the Bok heroes who stepped up to the plate when needed. Brilliant defender and dangerous on attack when the opportunity arose.
Like to see Moodie in the side. Very talented, creative silky skills. His time will come.

When the Boks won in 2019, the defence was impenetrable. The Boks vary their defensive alignment, but often use the umbrella rush defence when the number 13 shoots out of the backline.
Over time teams have gotten better at breaking the Bok's first line of defence with a skip pass to the wing.
However, the cover defence usually still kills the attacking movement.
Jessie Kriel's defence was phenomenal. I have never been a fan, but Rassie knows that Kriel is a very strong defender at 13 who understands the umbrella rush defence.
It would have been good to have seen Modie get more game time, but perhaps he needs time to learn the position of 13 more- from a defensive perspective within Rassie's system.
If AM was included in the squad to start with, he would have gotten close to Kriel on defence- but offered more on attack
