...to become Springbok Head Coach again.
He will still keep some of the director's responsibilities.

Who will be the new DOR?

Nienaber? Although perhaps nobody…as Gilbert and Sullivan said: ‘He’s got ‘em on the list, they’d none of ‘em be missed’.

The functioning  of the Springbok team since 2018 was controlled by Erasmus.   However, SB story is wrong - Erasmus will remain as Director of Rugby - but for the future will  also be  undertaking the functions of  Head Coach after Nienaber departs.   His rank will remain that of Director of Rugby - but it depends on Erasmus when the vacant post of Head coach will be filled.

Erasmus has a problem - none of the franchise coaches bar the Stormers have shown the needed requirements to be the Chief Coach of the Springboks.   White has heath problems - but the Bulls are not well off under him.

I think Erasmus will look at potential development of a Head Coach  in future - but as stated bearing in mind the failure of White - he will look at the various potential franchise coaches and then decide on the way forward.   .
