RG Snyman celebrated his 50th Test cap in style as the Springboks toppled Ireland in a game that was about as orderly as a Black Friday sale. Snyman, who has become as much a part of the furniture at Leinster as he was at his injury-plagued stint at Munster, found the victory at the Aviva Stadium particularly poignant. “Playing my 50th at the Aviva, against guys I know well, almost felt like being at home,” he revealed. The presence of his wife and the team’s efforts to make the week memorable only sweetened the pot. “Having my wife here and the way the team made the week special for me … it’s something I’ll remember forever,” he added.

While personal milestones were thick in the air, the Springboks were also desperate to snap a losing streak against Ireland that had lingered since 2012. Snyman couldn’t hide his delight, saying, “It’s a very special win, especially against such a quality team. We know how focused and physical Ireland are, so getting this result means a lot to us as a group.”

The game itself was a rollercoaster, complete with five yellow cards that saw one escalate to a red, disrupting any semblance of rhythm. “I don’t think I’ve ever been involved in a game as chaotic as tonight,” Snyman confessed. “But the boys handled it well and adapted to everything happening around us.”

"Being adaptable is something we pride ourselves on."

This adaptability seems to be paying dividends, as the Boks have marched through their November fixtures unbeaten, with only a match against 12th-ranked Wales looming. Snyman praised his team's resilience and strategic flexibility, a testament to their growing synchronicity and poise. “The guys buy into the plan every week, and things are going according to plan at the moment,” he remarked.

Next on the agenda is a depleted Welsh team in Cardiff, where the Boks will look to cap off their tour in style. As the dust settles in Dublin, the Springboks can take pride in not just a victory, but in the celebration of one of their stalwarts' most memorable milestones.
