In training today - fuck sake

So if he does not play Nortje will start

Another fucking Mostert

Fuck sake RG

Surely it would make more sense to move PSDT to 5 and play BJ Dixon at 7?

Aug 07, 2024, 18:36

Yes Dud Toit should play lock ….that gives us another pair of hands at the breakdown. Already Mostert is missed.

Aug 07, 2024, 18:40

Mostert at the breakdown????

Thank fuck useless Mostert is not playing I hope we never see him play for the Boks again

Utterly useless where it counts

Aug 07, 2024, 22:29

They will monitor him, but still in the squad. Nortje or Moeras will come of the bench. It will most probably be Stef at Lock …Ben is a above average line out Jumper and good at 7.

Aug 07, 2024, 22:40

Will be so disappointed if RG does not make it

The obvious move would be to move PSDT to 5 and start BJ Dixon at 7 with Moerat on the bench

But no doubt Rassie will instead bring Nortje at 5 - another powder puff

Aug 07, 2024, 23:16

You’ve got powder puff on the brain …Nortje just like Mostert, is good dependable locks picked by yours truly Rassie. He knows better for sure .

Aug 07, 2024, 23:23

They are both shit

Aug 08, 2024, 14:44

Man that Eluckmiss must be clueless.

Aug 08, 2024, 19:15

That’s unfortunate.

Aug 08, 2024, 21:16

Rassie is not perfect, if he was his record would be 100%

Selecting Mostert ahead of real locks is definitely a failing of his. Mostert diminished our physical threat

I definitely don’t buy into his selection of players that are not necessarily the best but they fit.

Aug 09, 2024, 04:32

So you don’t believe the team synergy matters….you select the person you believe is the best player in each position…,even if their skill sets don’t make sense.

Aug 09, 2024, 04:40

Time to bin Snyman altogether. He’s obviously made of glass and should be consigned to the rubbish tip permanently. They’ve wasted too much precious time on him already…..

Aug 09, 2024, 07:28

You wish.:D

Aug 09, 2024, 07:51

Yeah Moz I’d definitely pick the best player in each position and the next best 8 on the bench.

The best players should have the skill set to play any plan you want

Of course if one of your players was a complete wanker or had a Luke Watson agenda you would not bother

The only real variant would be at 12 - your best physical 12 or your most creative 12 - de Allende vs Willemse

For the rest my side would have to meet certain skill and size levels - I would not look at a prop or lock under 120kg (hence Mostert never getting a sniff in my side)

No centre under 90kg more like 95kg etc

There is no way that right now I would be playing Kriel ahead of Am just because Kriel has done a job while Am was injured. You sell the team short with Kriel ahead of Am, so when Am is fit like he is now, he plays

I get the feeling there is too much of this ‘because he knows the system he gets selected or plays’ - like Ruan Nortje being selected ahead of the better and far more deserving Ruben v Heerden in the squad.

Yes as a test coach you only have a limited time with your squad unlike a provincial coach but that should not detract from bringing in better more deserving players

Rassie gets most of his selections right but he also makes some stupid calls

On the one hand he is all about the new in Sacha over Pollard but then counters that with the stupid call of starting Reinach ahead of Williams - what does that say about his faith in Williams.

Same with Koch on the bench ahead of Thomas - it’s time to move on. Neither Reinach nor Koch have been first choices as Boks so I don’t get the logic of continuing with 34 year old bench players

RG is a fantastic player but reminds me a lot of Andries Bekker. His body couldn't cope. I also think it is how we use our forwards that they don't tend to last very long. Even Eben is always injured outside the test window.

But RG is just very injury prone. He played like 10 games in 4 years between world cups.

If I was Rassie I would put a word in his ear and tell him to give up Ireland and go to Japan to extend his career.

Come to think of it, he has hardly played this season too. How on earth can he be seizing up now

Aug 09, 2024, 10:27

I would just move PSDT to lock for this season and work on new players and preserve PSTD, he, along with Marx is our two best forwards, and of course Marx.

Eben has gone a bit flat at the start of the season.

Aug 09, 2024, 15:37

RG/Bekker analogy is proving to be unfortunately true. Both match winners, which is unusual for locks….but both extremely fragile. To the eye they look lanky, even among locks….their bodies just too leveraged by long limbs.

Skelton is another huge man, about RG’s height, but he has 40 lbs more of muscle, which helps in the collisions. Yet he too has had injuries.

"Eben has gone a bit flat at the start of the season. "

Eben might be the most overrated and most hyped up player of all time.

Not for one second saying he's not a good player because he is . . . and he is consistently good . . . but the way his fanboys on here shriek about him being the greatest lock of all time or the greatest player in the world today . . . while he plods around the field doing the basics well and doing what one would expect from a Springbok lock . . . well, it's hard to reconcile his actual performances with the reputation his fanboys seem to think he's earned.

Meanwhile, the player that the Ebenistas love to hate - Pieter-Steph du Toit - is winning accolades like World Rugby Player of the Year, Player of the RWC final and winning us RWCs almost single-handedly.

Eben is good and if you think he's gone a bit flat he's playing his normal game without ever reaching the heights his adoring fans think he does . . . . but the much-maligned and underrated Pieter Steph is great. A true Springbok legend in every sense.

Just keeping it real.

Ebenistas….hmm…I recall another poster using that verbal twist. Good to see you can still learn but it took a long time since the Watsonistas. Brooding on that were you?
