On the other hand, Darren.
He also provided good entertainment, making jokes at the rugby players on live radio.

Was always a fan - sad news
My best mate back home has the same cancer - thankfully his last scan revealed a reduction in the cancer so fingers crossed
It’s early days for him but it’s been a tough journey up until the results of his last scan two weeks ago
What a beaut
RIP Darren, you were fantastic at what you did
I remember listening to him and John Walland ...
RIP - my thougt is woth his family - relative and friends,
RIP Darren.
I was at school with him. He was 2 years behind me. I knew him well, played cricket with him a few times.
Back then he was known as Darren Schwab and he had an older brother Mark Schwab who was a great athlete and head boy but who died tragically shortly after leaving school. I know his brother's death had a devastating effect on Darren.
Darren was a very funny and clever man.
Very sad.
Ha I didn’t know that.
did he change his surname to Scott or was that his middle name
He changed it. Scott was a lot more media-friendly than Schwab.
Mansfield and Scott gone in the space of what . . . a year?
And pilgrim
Ja.
We're getting old.
I’m sorry to hear that.
Sad news.
What a brilliant radio man and TV presenter. Sad news….condolences to his family.
This was incredible.
I was there.
Fantastic tribute
Very nicely done, sorry about your friend Flash.
Thanks Moz.
Mozart, Darren wasnt a friend.
That tribute was at De La Salle High School.
My kids go to that school, so we attended.
It was their annual Highlands Gathering fete.
Okay..understood. That was such a traditional, moving tribute it brought back memories of others, even if I never had the opportunity to listen to Darren’s broadcasts..

Darren was a man who played a huge role in my life as a teenager on 5FM and Boots n All and Supersport presenter.
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of beloved radio legend Darren Scott. Darren, a dedicated and talented broadcaster, left us in the early hours of Tuesday, 27 May, at the age of 61. His journey was marked by a courageous fight against cancer, a battle that persisted for nearly four decades.
Darren’s life was a testament to resilience, wit, and creativity. Diagnosed with an aggressive form of skin cancer, melanoma, back in 1986, he faced each challenge with remarkable strength and grace. Despite the hardships and numerous hospital stays in recent months, his spirit and humor never waned.
Darren was more than just a voice on the radio—he was a beacon of kindness and charity. His work touched many lives, and his warmth and humor will be dearly missed by everyone at Hot 102.7 and by listeners across the country. Our hearts go out to his beloved boys, Mark and Matthew, and to his family during this difficult time.
His ex-wife, Sarah-Kate Accetta, who led efforts to support his treatment, expressed her profound gratitude to everyone who donated, prayed, and stood by Darren’s side. The generosity of those who contributed through the Back-a-Buddy campaign not only funded his treatment but also gave Darren hope, dignity, and the beautiful gift of feeling loved in his final months. Over R515,000 was raised to support him—a testament to the incredible compassion of his community.
In March, Darren openly shared the pain of his cancer’s return, describing how the aggressive melanoma had reappeared in various parts of his body despite previous surgeries. His strength and honesty in sharing his journey touched us all.
We will share details about his memorial and funeral arrangements as soon as they are available. Until then, let us remember Darren Scott not only for his incredible talent but for the love, hope, and kindness he shared with us all.
